I watched the 2007 film, Tchaikovsky a few months ago. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a 19th Century Russian romanticism composer. His last piece of composed music (The Sixth Symphony) is said to be his masterpiece.

Tchaikovsky means 'like a seagull'. A seagull is a Paloma 'blanca'. The Sixth Tchakovsky Symphony is titled TRAGIC. Listen to this shortened five minute rendition of TRAGIC today and make a tragedy something of beauty for you.

Wednesday

I sold my first RCF (Remote Call Forwarding) today to some cosmetics firm. The sale of an RCF is a big deal because it is all done through the Central Office without any installation manpower needed. It’s a money maker for the firm and we get a ‘pat on the back’ whenever we sell them.

I spent lunch with Barbara Reynolds at Natoma’s Café. It was good. She always makes for good conversation. She’s adjusting to the changes reasonably well.

After work I paid my usual visit to the Sperm Bank, rapping with the receptionist who was from the East Coast. Robin was her usual sweet self, too. I gave my donation and went straight over to mom’s house.

I spoke with Gordon (the guy on the BART train who looks like the comedian actor Marty Feldman). He is still happily working at Union Pacific Railroad. He really is a nice, harmless elder chap.

It felt like Christmas because the weather is becoming so gloomy. It is getting darker early now and it remains so dark in the morning.

John, Sherri, Tony, Mom and Ashley were at mom and dad’s house. Sherri left to look at an apartment on San Antonio Avenue in Alameda. I guess she is moving because John cannot deal with her way of housekeeping.

I came home to a $26.10 phone bill. I paid Dad the $450 rent and a mere $100 went into my Patelco Savings Account. As I was taking care of these matters the telephone rang.

It was Paloma calling to say, “I received your card today with your photo.”

She was being really very sweet about it. We officially have a date tomorrow at 7:30PM for a casual dinner at the Ice-Cream Dock on Harbor Bay Isle. We spoke of some “marriage talk” just for fun. I remember these words being exchanged: “Five karat diamonds, medium-sized wedding and adequate living arrangements”. I like Paloma. I only wish she did not smoke any more. I wonder if we have a long-lasting chance together.

I watched the first half of the movie “He’s Not Your Son” with mom and the other half alone at my pad. It’s a pretty good flick about the mistaken switch of two babies born within an hour of each other. The parents did not find out until nine months later that they each had the wrong son.

Robin told me that my sperm had been donated to about ten different women; yet there were no positive pregnancy results as of yet. She said she’d take some time to do some research to find out if there have been any positive results recently.

I wonder what a baby between Paloma and I would look like? A body beautiful…I am sure.

I have a runny nose and I’m trying to fight the sickness. It’s tough.

I am looking forward to seeing Paloma again. I want her.

The Movie “He’s Not Your Son” gave me a few heartwarming chills. It was a good ending to a good story!

It is the 81st Annual Academy Award presentation tonight. Hugh Jackman is the master of ceremonies.

I saw him in the 2008 film AUSTRALIA. I absolutely loved it. I would have chosen it as a 'Best Picture' nominee. He has great showmanship and I believe him to be a great choice.

It will be interesting to see who wins the coveted Oscar this year. My personal choices for Best Supporting Actor and Actress are Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight) and Penelope Cruz (Vicky, Cristina Barcelona).


My personal ARMIJO AWARD goes to Kate Winslet for 'The Reader' and Sean Penn for 'Milk' as Best Actress and Best Actor.

They are both so OUTSTANDING.


I would not be disappointed if Frank Langella won for 'Best Actor'. I saw his performance in the 2007 film "Starting Out In The Evening" which was phenomenal. And his "Frost/Nixon" performance was truly brilliant.

The Best Picture will likely be "Slumdog Millionaire". It is the all around favorite.

I read in the Sunday New York Times this morning that an honorary Oscar will go to Jerry Lewis. It's so well-deserved after so much time. It will be fun to see the film clips of his magnificent career.

I will be watching the entire Oscar show at the CAMEO THEATER in St. Helena, California tonight. Exciting!

February 22, 1984

My work day was all right. I telephoned Chris Cordellos this morning. We are going to see the Nastassja Kinski film tomorrow night. His father has promised to pay for his therapy in Arcata, CA. I guess that means he will be moving further North in about eight weeks time. Who knows when he shall return? We have made plans to celebrate on March 3rd or 4th for his 21st birthday.

I watched a preview of the movie "Angel" today. I actually saw some of the actual filming in Hollywood, CA (when I was there in June 1983).

I have not heard from Paloma, Leslie or Nancy. I guess they are now part of my past.

I forgot to document my visit last Sunday to the Ice-Cream Dock. I had an orange sherbet freeze there. It is so cool and refreshing. I bought some Cookies n' Cream Ice-Cream for my brother, John. Then John had to go and rent a dumb movie again (Spring Fever). We watched 'Dynasty' together afterward.

Ann-Margret is on my agenda for tonight. She has a guest appearance on The Tonight Show. I am so looking forward to her world premiere TV movie "A Streetcar Named Desire". Everyone "desires".

I fell 'in love' with Ann-Margret after watching the exciting chemistry between her and Elvis in the classic film "Viva Las Vegas".

I applied for a CITICORP Visa with a $5000 credit limit. How exciting!

Do you love shocking surprises? I was informed by Chris today that he is 'definitely' leaving for Arcata.
"I have to leave at eight o'clock tomorrow morning," Chris said sadly.
This was discouraging news. He made a point of expressing his sadness. I, too, felt rather distraught.
"Oh well," I thought, "another one bites the dust."

I took my bike for a spin until 6:30pm to analyze my situations. A few new people crossed my path and gave me nods of the head or a brief "hello". I am curious to know the lives of some of these people that I randomly see as I pass them on my bicycle. Perhaps I shall.

"I told one my good friends, Clay, about my feelings about you, Michael," Chris continued, "and I told him how I have continuous thoughts of you."
"You did?"
"Clay couldn't believe it," Chris said.
Chris went on to say that Clay told his friend, Elliot, about it all. Elliot got angry and 'chewed out' Chris.
"I don't want a faggot as a friend," Elliot screamed at Chris.

I could understand Chris' hurt feelings. Even though I have never experienced anything like this I understood the discrimination. I tried to reassure Chris that 'Clay and Elliot' seemed NOT to be as great of friends as he thought they were. Chris felt better after we had discussed the incident. In time, our relationship might work.
"I am learning who my real friends are," Chris said.
It made me wonder who my real friends would be (if they knew about this other side of me?).

I was dozing off after the 'Dynasty' episode when the telephone rang. It was for me. I was kind of surprised by the phone call.
"Oh, hi, it's you," I said when I heard Paloma's voice.
It looks like there has been a turn of events as Paloma and I made a date for tomorrow night to see Nastassja Kinski in "Moon In The Gutter".

I was beginning to feel that Paloma and I were so "over" because whenever I tried to make a date on a Friday or Saturday night she would never commit. It was only weekdays with her because she would prefer to go out with her girlfriends. At least this is how she makes me feel. I won't even get into how she 'faced me' with three excuses regarding the potential lunch dates. I don't know what to make of it. She did make a point of saying she would definitely meet me for lunch sometime.

"I'm going to Paris for two months this summer," Paloma said.
Everyone is going somewhere (except for me). I am envious. I wish I were going. At least I can trust that my Huntington Beach, California trip will be a provocative escape.

Paloma and I had a most exciting chat this evening. I even made a suggestion that she become my roommate. (?) My brother John will be moving out. I don't know. Maybe Chris should be my roommate. All I know is that I am so happy that Paloma called. We are going to see "Nastassja" tomorrow.

January 26, 1984
I was so slicked up in my new blue suit. I looked rather dashing (if I do say so myself). When I arrived at the Hyatt for the conference I wanted to sit next to Barbara Reynolds. However, Don ‘the dork’ Starkey took over and gave my hopeful seat to “Cookie”. What the hell! I sat next to Dana Mitchell and Linda Leyman (the ex-nun!). It was a fun filled day despite all of the formalities.
I was appointed team captain for my group. Most everyone applauded and loved my presentation. I am glad. I thought I got a bit ‘shaky’—for some reason. It had been a while since I was up in front of a live audience. One tends to feel that stage fright. Then when you’re in action and it all seems to be working out it makes you feel confident and more relaxed.
During the entire conference I felt good vibes about Pacific Bell. It seems I will get recognized for management eventually. I did share a few ambitious words with Nancy Guzman, so who knows. I do plan on submitting some future ideas for the company. I feel I am truly getting noticed this time. I have to devise a great strategy. I know it.
I went up and had a drink or two up at The Toppers Bar at the Hyatt afterwards. It was fun.
When I arrived home I changed into something comfortable and called Paloma at 6pm.
“So, do you still feel like the I-BEAM,” I asked Paloma per the telephone.
“Yes, of course,” she said with a tone of surprise.
“Great. I’ll be over there by 8:30 to pick you up,” I said excitedly.

I exercised a good while when Bill Helbush called ‘out of the blue’. We seemed to be chatting about ‘nothing’.
“So why haven’t you called me?” Bill finally questioned his real reason for his call.
“I’ve just been busy with work and all. Have you been to the skating rink lately?” I asked.
“Yeah, I just happened to talk to George Jones last week and the week before. We were talking about you,” he blurted, knowing I would find this interesting.
My voice was gruff, as if I had just dined on pretzel sticks. “You were?”
“Yeah, we talked about you and your hang-ups, problems and what have you,” Bill said.
“Oh really…tell me the details,” I urged.
Laughter came from his voice. “It’s something we’d have to discuss face-to-face,” he retorted.

Should I have been appalled? No. I refused to weaken. I just wonder what George may have said.
“Okay Bill, I’ll call you on Sunday Day and maybe we can get together to talk more about it,” I replied.
Besides I have Bill’s shirt to return.

Frank Vasconcellos called soon afterwards to report of his love for some girl named Laura.
“We should have a threesome,” he suggested.
Now that’s an idea with the right third party I thought.
“Tammy is still going out a lot lately,” Frank said loudly as if he was sharing a secret.
“Oh yeah,” I replied as if I were interested.
“That Bill guy tried to proposition me last Tuesday at the rink,” Frank added, “he seems overly sleazy.”
I listened with interest.
“I wonder about him. I’m afraid I might catch something from him,” Frank continued.
“It’s a possibility…I’ll say,” I laughed.

It was time to leave for Paloma when the telephone rang once more. This time it was Chris Cordellos, calling from Riverside. He called to tell me he was being admitted to USC Medical Center tomorrow. He mentioned a possible disc and splinter problems with his back. It sounded painful. I hope he gets better.

Soon I found myself driving into ‘The City’ with Paloma. The traffic congestion was frightening even though Paloma’s gasps and reactions were even more frightful. We finally reached the I-BEAM Dance club.

Paloma and I danced non-stop. I can feel that we dance and ‘move’ well together. A few guys were giving Paloma the eye and it made me jealous. Then again I noticed some guys giving me the eye, too. Strange place…let me tell you! It had great music and such neat videos.

I felt like I was driving forever. My back was killing me, so it’s no wonder that Chris’ back is out of whack after driving from Concord to Riverside! I finally arrived in Berkeley to drop Paloma off at home only to learn that Paloma was locked out of the house! The night was over after her finale kiss.

January 25, 1984, Wednesday

I called Paloma at 9am to invite her a 'second time' for lunch on this day.
"I have to be at school at 11:30 today," Paloma declared.
I assume this means I will be taking a rain check for some other time.

Helen was absent again from work. I tried calling her to express concern. She was still asleep. Is she really sick?

I broke down at lunchtime and enjoyed a 'hot dog'. I called mom during my lunch hour.
"What's new, mom?"
"Well, I called Cecelia and told her that I'm going to be a grandma," she said with a bit of laughter.
Abruptly I cleared my throat. "Ah, so the news is out."

I never received a call back from Bill Myers at that San Francisco Placement Center today. What gives? What a flake. It's his loss anyway.

Carol Barling, Assistant Manager at Pacific Telephone, overheard me tell Rose that I received a job offer. She kept trying to eavesdrop. What a nosey wench! I am still curious as to why Carol Barling made print copies of my personal telephone bill. That is my business. I can only wonder if I am even trusted within my own company. It pisses me off. I should question the matter. I will do something if I sense her persistence. I think she hates me or is jealous of me for some reason.

Tomorrow is our conference at the Oakland Hyatt. I can't wait to impress every one with my new business suit.

I filled my 'ARMIJO5' mustang with fuel at the MOBIL station right after work. I heard my phone ringing in the house as I drove into the garage. I missed a call from Chris Cordellos. I believe it was him because he called five minutes later.
"Yeah, I wanted to call to tell you that my back is acting up. It hurts me when I walk," he explained.
Chris has a recurring back problem due to some car accident (I think). He said he was calling from Riverside. It surprised me that he would call long-distance from there.
"I hope you feel better," I said with a touch of empathy.

Chris is a nice guy. He seems to keep to his word. He was to call me today and he actually did.
"I will call you on Friday with the latest chain of events regarding my back and the report from the hospital," Chris promised me.

I ate dinner at mom's and watched the Ronald Reagan State of the Union Address with my Dad.

When I returned to my pad I found a message on my machine from Jackie Woods, the black girl that I met at STARGAZE, a dance club in Fremont, who seems to have a crush on me. I neglected to return her call but I did call Nancy DeSilva once again. Nancy and I made a date for next Saturday, February 4th.
"I might drive by this weekend and see you bike riding, too," she said in her flirtatious way.
I thought quietly to myself, "Yeah, sure...if you're lucky."
We continued the telephone conversation on various subjects such as school, my cousin Patrick Markus, cheer leading, high school sports, Art, Chabot College, exercise, Los Angeles, and southern California beaches. Nancy seems to be a real "Rah Rah type" and a gal who is very much 'on the move'. I shall learn more during our forthcoming date.

I called Helen who explained that she had left work early on Monday because she was vomiting.
"I may not return to work until next week sometime," Helen said.

Armijo Origins: Nicolas the Great

My father, Joe Nelson Armijo, never knew his grandfather. He only knew his father, Jose Antonio Armijo. I remember my father sharing the story of his fathers' death.

In March 1955, my father was 19 years old and had to manage all of the funeral arrangements. He flew from the Bay Area to Santa Fe, New Mexico under his mothers' instructions. His brother was too young (age 15). He was the only one in attendance at the funeral.
"I felt sad," my dad said.
Knowing this has always made me sad as I cannot imagine a sole person greiving at a loved one's funeral.

My father always said that his father was forty-seven years old (in 1935) when he was born. He wasn't sure if he ever had any children with another woman in his twenties or thirties or early forties. That remains a mystery. My grandfather is pictured here (Jose Antonio Armijo) in a photo taken around 1940.

When I was living in Los Angeles in the early 1990's I took it upon myself to visit the Mormon Temple to spend some time doing family history research. I knew my grandfather had a brother named Jesus and that they lived in the Mora County region of New Mexico around 1900. I found 1900 census records showing my grandfather, Jose Antonio Armijo. It showed his siblings (Maria, Teofilo, Concepcion, Jesus and Navorsita). More importantly, it showed the names of my Great grandparents: NICOLAS & MARIA JUANITA ARMIJO.

For my blog today I choose to refer to my Great Grandfather as 'Nicolas the Great'. I wish I could have shared this knowledge with my own father, but my father had passed away in August 1987. 'Nicolas the Great' was born around 1842 in the State of New Mexico.

According to the USA June 1, 1900 National Archive Census Records, Nicolas and Maria Juanita Armijo lived in the village of ABUELO in Mora County, New Mexico, USA. They owned a farm in the village. It specifically stated on the record that Nicolas owned the farm and adjacent land "free and clear": District 73, Precint 19, Township of Abuelo Cebolla. The surname ARMIJO originates as far as Laredo, Spain (the Basque region of Western Europe). It is found in Santander and in old Castilla and later in Andalucia, Spain. It is a Castilian name first found in the village of Laredo (in Santander).

My Great grandfather, 'Nicolas the Great' can easily trace his Spanish roots from the well known DURAN de ARMIJO Family per this historical information found under the ARMIJO Project for FamilyTreeDNA.com:

Francisco de Armijo (born ca. 1565 in Sevilla, Andalusia, Spain); married Guiomar de Orozco ca. 1585 in Sevilla, Andalusia, Spain. A listing of passengers coming from Spain to the West Indies between 1586-1599 stated that Francisco de Armijo came into New Spain in 1590 as a merchant for three years, that he was from Sevilla, Andalusia, Spain, was married, and was the son of Anton de Armijo and Maria de Madrid. A further search confirmed that he came again to New Spain (now known as Zacatecas, Mexico) from Sevilla in 1597. On this second trip, he brought his wife, Guiomar de Orozco, and their four children: Maria, Benita, Antonio, and Ursula de Armijo.

Antonio de Armijo married Francisca de Medina on the 27 of July 1614 in Puebla de Zaragoza, Puebla, Mexico. The marriage record stated that Antonio was the son of Francisco de Armijo and Guiomar de Orozco.

Antonio de Armijo (born on the 7 of September 1633 in Puebla de Zaragoza, Puebla, Mexico); married Damiana Violante ca. 1649 in Zacatecas, Mexico. Antonio was also found as a witness in two marriage investigations: one on the 23 of March 1686 and another on the 29 of March 1686 in Zacatecas, Mexico, wherein he stated his age.

Joseph de Armijo (born ca. 1650 in Zacatecas, Mexico); married Catalina Duran ca. 1674 in Zacatecas, Mexico. Another marriage (1st?) was found for Joseph de Armijo and Antonia de Hernandez on the 11 of September 1667 in Mexico City, Mexico, stating he was from Zacatecas, Mexico and the mestizo son of Antonio de Armijo and Damiana Violante. Joseph de Armijo's second wife Catalina Duran arrived in New Mexico in May of 1695 as a widow with the Zacatecas colonists and her four sons: Antonio, Marcos, Joseph, and Vicente, all whom used the double surname of "Duran de Armijo." This is the Armijo line, which is the progenitor of all Armijos who have roots in New Mexico.

January 22, 1984

Chris Cordellos called me around 10am. I was still in bed but managed to answer the phone. We talked about what we would do regarding the Super Bowl today. I told him I would let him know after I made a few calls.

I called Paloma.
"I doubt that I can come over for the Super Bowl, today, but could you...uhhh...call me later to see if we can watch 'The Road Warrior'?" she asked.
"Sure, I'll do that," I said as I hung up and called Chris back to inform him that he could come over to watch the game with me.

Chris and I watched the Super Bowl as we seemed to mostly chat throughout the four quarters.
"Yeah, I may be moving up north to Arcata for a month," Chris declared.
"You really think so?" I asked.
"Yep, I pretty much know I will definitely be in Riverside in June. You should come!" he suggested.
"Well, I would like to check out Huntington Beach," I said.
He left my house by 5:30pm and we actually gave one another a brief kiss and embraced a bit. That was the extent of our intimacy. I am leary about 'our potential relationship'. Then again, if it feels good...do it, right?

Paloma ended up coming over an hour later to watch 'The Road Warrior' with me. We love 'Mad Max' in that futuristic 'what if' movie.

It was funny during the movie because Nancy deSilva called. She is the girl I met while bicyling that attends San Leandro High School. I spoke to Nancy briefly and it turns out she knows my cousin, Patrick Markus, who attends her school. I simply explained that I would call her back later.
She said, "Okay."
Paloma and I went to my parents' house after 'The Road Warrior' film. After my Dad shared some 'history & geography' about SPAIN with Paloma we left for a walk in and around the Harbor Bay Isle Club & the Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center. The Ice-Cream Dock was appetizing and filling. We returned to my pad only to walk over to the courtyard to play a little volleyball. It was fun. We laughed, realizing we weren't professional volleyball players.

We went upstairs to my bed to relax and rest for a while after showing off our sportsmanship. We pretended to be watching the "007 James Bond DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER" movie as we caressed, kissed and cuddled until we both fell fast asleep.

I would have to say it was a long day. When we awoke I read her some excerpts from my journal, specifically 'Paloma' entries between the day we met (Halloween 1983) and now. She was thrilled to listen to my written words (I think). I had a feeling she was fascinated about how I mentioned her so much. Paloma does mean something to me. It's just a matter of telling how much she will mean. Where will it lead? Where she will be--for that matter--. And where will I be a year from today? So many unanswered questions.

My brother, John, and Sherri came over to watch Super Bowl highlights. They were the ones who interrupted our restful moments on my Queen-sized brass bed. Paloma was available for some quick introductions (to John & Sherri). She left soon afterwards. I decided to go to sleep for the night.

Maybe You'll Remember...

Alan and I drove down to Palm Desert on Friday to visit with dear friends. Alan kindly did all of the driving as I read a few articles aloud and my book (Spring Moon by Bette Bao Lord). While we were in the car we heard some music on CDs that we had made a while ago. I heard a song that got me going. I just loved hearing the tune called 'Remember' by The Underdog Project. It's a Spanglish song (with lyrics in English and Spanish). I just love it and we kept playing it over and over.

When we had phone reception and I had a voice mail message from Chris Cordellos. Yes, I located him via a google search. It seems he's a hair colorist & stylist 'extraodinaire' in Lafayette, CA. We still have to talk and catch up on lost time. I saw him in the mid-1990s when he was working at a hair salon called POSH STUDIO in Walnut Creek but we haven't spoken since. It will be interesting to catch up on lost time.

January 17, 1984

I had to stay at work only until 2pm today because of my dentist appointment.

It feels good to listen to my car stereo once again. It brings about such emotion and inner feelings of excitement when the "right" song is playing.

The dentist took good care of everything. I don't have to return for another check-up until June 27, 1984. I was out of his office by 3:20pm. I missed mom by only minutes as she usually leaves the house by 3:15pm for her work at the Oakland Main post-office.

I decided to go to my place and get on my bicycle again. I just love that machine. I bet my bike can't wait until it has another bicycle companion. It probably wishes it could rest. I do want to buy another foreign bicycle.

Today I met Sheila and Liz on the beach as I rode by. Sheila's a cute blond. They were both freshman in high school though. How embarassing. What a drag. Though I sometimes wonder... Who knows? I told them I'd see them on Saturday as we exchanged a few words with one another.
"Maybe I'll see you on Saturday as I usually ride along here," I told them.

I just remembered that the El Taco gal, Nancy, has never called me. Oh well.

I haven't called Leslie Fonseca either. Perhaps that is no great loss. It's just an added attraction (her child). There were some familiar favorites seen as I continued to ride my bike along the shoreline in Alameda. There were some new prospects of both gender. It was quite interesting.

My brother, John, took Sherri out to dinner to "H's Lordships" in Berkeley, for her birthday. I chose to eat alone at the 'Sizzler'. The waitress, Katie, flirted--or so it seemed. I believe we both shared in the flirting. She was very nice but seemed to be that way with all of the guests.
"You look a lot like that actress, Jessica Lange, who was in that movie 'Frances'," I said as I realized the girl had no idea who I was speaking about.

Shit! Why do I have 'call waiting' when my phone doesn't even ring. I decided to break down and call Paloma myself. I was so glad that I called her. We had such a good talk about the subject of depression and 'why' and 'how' people should not be burdened and find a balance in life. Paloma and I may go dancing together tomorrow night at I-Beam in San Francisco. She even said she might come to visit on Sunday to watch the Mel Gibson movie "The Road Warrior" after we watch the SUPER BOWL.
"I promise I will give you a tour of Stinson Beach one day," she added.

I am getting to a high point of really liking Paloma once again. Where? And how far it will lead is undetermined.
"Well, Thank you for calling me and making me feel better over my depressed mood," Paloma said.
"Oh...you just need something that will brighten up your spirits," I assured her, "it could be as simple as buying a new scarf, a new friend, a new place, an old memory, an old story, a poem or a good old-fashioned movie."
I was so happy to know that I lifted her spirits. She did the same with mine.

January 18, 1984

I dressed a bit more exceptional for work today, wearing my brown tweed sport jacket. I received more than one or two 'double-takes', too.

I called Paloma more than a couple of times on this day. It was settled that I would come by to pick her up at 6:30pm. She wore a gray dress with black stripes. Coincidentally, I wore black with my gray "Bebe" brand jacket. We seemed to 'match' as the ideal couple.

We just did a random outing to Round Table Pizza (nothing fancy). It was funny when we were both 'carded'. We both proved our respective 'twenty-four' year old ages. After the pizza we went to the UC THEATER on University Avenue to see "Spetters", a film from Holland, directed by Paul Verhoeven

They were entertaining films. I was a little surprised to learn of the explicit sex scenes. I was a little embarassed to look over at Paloma during those parts. I will never forget those movies as being entertaining and shocking. Both films proved 'There Is No Such Thing As Simple Love'.

I enjoyed our date. I kissed and hugged Paloma at her doorstep. She confirmed the date for SUPER BOWL Sunday (along with 'The Road Warrior' movie).
"I'm thinking of going back to France for good," she confessed.
I think she wanted to see or hear my reaction.
"Oh...ahh, no!" I exclaimed. I am wondering if she may be looking for a commitment with or from me? Am I reading too much into it?
I was impressed when she said she used to work for Paco Rabonne, the fashion designer.

Twenty-five years ago today

January 15, 1984

It was early Sunday morning and I faintly remember my brother, John, coming home at around 3am, telling me that it smelled like a skunk outside.

I finally woke up to my cousin, Sandy Gallegos, who called to say it was raining; whereby, our bike outing was cancelled. I heard John getting ready and we both went over to mom's house for Sunday breakfast.

After breakfast I accompanied mom and dad to look at some new Centre Court homes for sale on Harbor Bay Isle. We also looked at a casita at 1100 Verdemar. I think my dad is considering an investment purchase. It is still questionable. We couldn't believe the black and filthy dirty heating filter attached to the furnace at the casita home.

I wonder where I will be living in six months?

My brother, John, said that Leslie Fonseca called me.
"She's in love and just wants someone to support her," John said.
I had to laugh. Then again...I wonder. Is she a risk? I don't know if it's a waste of time to lead her on. I don't want to hurt her. She is so nice.

Chris Cordellos called me, too. John answered the phone. I was half asleep, so I told John to tell him I was asleep.
"Take a message," I yelled to him downstairs.
When I did return Chris' phone call his mother answered. I was confused because he had said he had two roommates. It is strange that his mother would answer his phone. Oh well...he is a Pisces (another George Jones?). Another liar? It's too early to tell.

I learned (from mom) that my dad made an offer of $118,000 on the casita on Verdemar. It will be interesting to learn whether or not it will be accepted. It needs totally repainted walls and new carpeting.

I called Paloma and told her about the movies I had available to see. She seems anxious to visit (I think). I'm glad. It would be nice to see her on Wednesday, the night of the Full Moon. I'm such a romantic sometimes. It's funny how I write a lot about how certain people influence my life. Certain events and material things can cause a lot of happiness with me right now. For example, a full moon, my new black lamp, my new 'old bicycle antique' and my poster of France all make me happy.

Shockwaves! Paloma called me at around 8:45pm.
"I can be there in forty-five minutes to an hour," she said.
She is finally coming over to see me and my place. Should I feel privileged? No, I feel happy. We will have fun watching a movie. Who knows what else?

Maybe I wanted her to get scared and have her clutch and hug me for protection. It was an 'ok' movie but it didn't seem to phase her. She didn't have a need to clutch me during any of the scary scenes. She liked my place though.

I told her about Gilbert, the modeling agent, and his proposition so-to-speak. She simply laughed about it. I shared some pictures with her that I had taken. She liked them. It was really good seeing her. I am especially thankful that she didn't "light up" (smoke).

Paige LaBris called me from Sacramento (just before Paloma arrived). I like Paige a lot but I just wonder where we really stand together as an item. Will she ever be "HOH" (Head Over Heals) over me. She still wants to visit (with a girlfriend tagging along, of course). It could prove meaningful. Who knows?

I Believe Disco Is Back In Style

My first sign of the DISCO return was about two weeks ago when I opened a letter and found an invitation to a February 2009 Montessori School 'Saturday Night Fever' fundraiser in St. Helena (Napa Valley), California. Secondly, the closing scene of the hit movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' thrived on a group Disco dance groove. And as recently as two days ago my dear, Paloma, from Balaruc-Les-Bains (in the South of France) sent me a 'DISCO BITCH' CD which seems to be one of the rave songs 'in and around' France right now. I believe Paloma wanted to 'brainwash' me by repeatedly listening to the song. I have been doing 'just that' every time I am in the car. I like the mix of French and English it has going on.

1. On New Years Eve at the San Mateo County Expo Center (near San Francisco) a big 'DISCO 2009' event is being advertised.

2. Apparently there was a French film released in April of this year (2008) called DISCO. I hope it comes to the states. I'd love to see it. It's a French movie directed by Fabien Onteniente with Franck Dubosc as "Didier Travolta" in the main role. Here is what I found on the Internet movie data base:

The main subject of the 'DISCO' movie is the rebirth of disco music at the the mid-2000s in a French town. The film is at first humorous, with a lot of clichés about Saturday Night Fever, but it doesn't disparage the disco culture at any time. In fact, all the people involved in this film are fans of disco, dance and funk music.

I better start practicing my dance steps and shakin' my groove thing...just like the good ole days when Paloma and I used to dance at the I-BEAM Club in San Francisco (even if it was a few years passed the heart of Disco).

Twenty-five years ago today:

It was fun today. Salima was on the telephone all day at work. She was seated next to me and making me realize how much I like and care for that girl. She is so super special and "simpatico".

I won "Samuel the Super Spaniel" for best sales yesterday. Hoorah! I am pleased.
I get to have the stuffed dog displayed on my desk for the day.

After work I arrived home and my brother, John, was joking around with his friend, Geoff Rookard. My pal, Suzy Miller, called and we arranged a holiday shopping date. It was coincidental because I had intentions of calling her at the same moment. Suzy came over to my place and we drove out to the Bay Fair Shopping Center in San Leandro. I bought myself a 'bicycle' ornament. We stopped over at the drive-thru Jack-In-The-Box and they tried to screw me over by mistakenly giving me the wrong order. I hate that. Suzy and I laughed, returning to my pad to munch out. She had to leave soon thereafter to cook her 'potluck' stuff for some holiday office affair the next day. She works for AT&T in Pleasanton, CA now.

My brother, John, was nice enough to give me twenty one-dollar bills. I better remember to pay him back. I like dealing with cash. John always has cash from his bar back/bartender in training job at GALLAGHERS at Jack London Square.

I have decided to make my New Year 2004 Resolution a 'no credit card' year. I want to pay only on a cash basis except in dire emergencies.

I watched some new funny show called "Oh Madeline" and then I quickly fell asleep.

Tomorrow is Wednesday and I guess Nici Maurino and I will be seeing SILKWOOD.

Oh yes...Helen told me the Placement Center called her about a Directory Sales job. She is taking the test on January 10, 2004. I am so jealous. Suzy said her ex-boyfriend, Don, was promoted to supervisor. I am so jealous. I know my turn will come. I shall continue to be persistent, show stability and drive forward for what I want.
