The Massive Obesity Epidemic

Posted on 07:35 by Unknown
The world is deceptive, it looks so solid, yet people can leave it so abruptly.
-Morag Joss
"Half-Broken Things"

As a follow-up to my recent MSG: The Danger Zone BLOG I came across this article from a very dear friend (below) that I had to share with all of you today. Think twice about what you put in your mouth.

“If you can’t pick it, don’t eat it.” (Meaning if you cannot pick it from a tree or under the ground: vegetables are cool.) Or at least be moderate in what you have usually been eating. It’s not an easy task to avoid MSG.

Here is an excerpt of an article that was sent to me by a dear friend, Hanne Reid, in British Columbia, Canada. There are references that defend the claims:

MSG (a slow poison)

The food additive MSG (Mono-Sodium Glutamate) is a slow poison. MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as Natural Flavoring." MSG is even in your favorite coffee from Tim Horton's and Starbucks coffee shops!

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America.

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to create them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have a name for the fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats."

When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen and checked the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything: Campbell soup, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings, especially the "healthy low-fat" ones. The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label had something called "Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein," which is just another name
for Monosodium Glutamate.

It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden under many different names in order to fool those who read the ingredient list, so that they don't catch on. (Other names for MSG are "Accent, "Aginomoto," "Natural Meat Tenderizer," etc.)

But it didn't stop there. When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG. But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere.

Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant -- even the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili's, Applebee's, and Denny's -- use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin -- their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative, or a vitamin? Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The Slow Poisoning of America, he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.

Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby
group supporting MSG explains that the reason they add it to food is to make
people eat more. A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbying group says eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?

"Bet you can't eat just one," takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!

MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance. Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we are tempted to eat every day.

The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They claim it's safe to eat in any amount. Many more of the studies mentioned in John Erb's book link MSG to diabetes, migraines and headaches, autism, ADHD, and even Alzheimer's. So what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping this fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity epidemic we now see?

Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns to one of
the highest government health officials in Canada. While he was sitting in
the government office, the official told him, "Sure, I know how bad MSG is.
I wouldn't touch the stuff." But this top-level government official refuses
to tell the public what he knows.

The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing issues
with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast food industry
may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and restaurants have been
addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price
for it. Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive.

But what can I do about it? I'm just one voice! What can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments are insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us?

This message is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell you the truth that the corporate-owned politicians and media won't tell you. The best way you can help to save yourself and your children from this drug-induced epidemic is to forward this article to everyone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before politicians can pass the legislation protecting those who are poisoning us.

The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry. Imagine if
big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone blew the whistle on
nicotine?

If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is good for
us and you don't believe what John Erb has to say, see for yourself. Go to
the National Library of Medicine at www.pubmed.com. Type in the words "MSG Obese" and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear.

We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment and we
do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic, addicted sheep, feeding the food industry's bottom line while
waiting for the heart transplant, the diabetic-induced amputation,
blindness, or other obesity-induced, life-threatening disorders.

With your help we can put an end to this poison.
Do your part in sending this message out by word of mouth, e-mail, or by
distribution of this printout to your friends all over the world and stop
this "Slow Poisoning of Mankind" by the packaged food industry.

Blowing the whistle on MSG is our responsibility, so get the word out.
Be extra vigilant in checking labels from now on.

Wednesday
Paloma did call last night.
“Some photographer at the fitness center wants to take pictures of me,” Paloma said in her sexy French accent.
“What did you say?”

She explained how she shunned him off in her own cute way. I, myself, would love to take some photographic shots of her…actually!

I gave my usual sperm donation today but there was still no word on positive pregnancy results. Time will tell…again, I guess. I still have my recurring appointment on Wednesday. I can use the money—even if it’s pocket change. It will pay for lunch and the toll rides into the City. Laughter.

Lunch was fun with Bobbie, Pat and I as we went for the Ambrosia New Potato Salad at Emporium, followed by yogurt for dessert.

After work I made my sperm donation as mentioned previously and then went cycling along Shoreline Drive. Who do I run into? Of course, I see Linda Nannizzi ride past on her bike in the opposite direction. I did a simple nod as she went by. I rode only from 6:30PM to 7:10PM. I began to wonder how school was treating Linda these days.

I did not call Paloma today even though I said I would. She’s probably at her Hilltop Fitness Center having the bodybuilders ‘spot her’ anyway.

Christmastime is upon us. I already noticed the signs of it while at Emporium today.

I had a good time reading Bobbie’s EROTICA book today.

It was mind boggling to learn the PREMIS/LAC calling business features today on top of everything else we’ve learned. Tomorrow is the big ‘Business Office’ day.

I picked up my pictures tonight. The reprints from the slides and pictures of Wayne, Paul and Ashley totaled twenty-six dollars. Ouch! It’s time to get serious. I need to save my bucks and pay and clear those damn bills of mine. My goal is to get (and have) it together by March 1985.

The Floating Island

Posted on 00:01 by Unknown
"Isn't it such an odd coincidence that we both don't like crabs, clams or oysters?" I asked Alan during a walk down Lafayette Street in New York City.
"No, it's a prerequisite to being in love," Alan answered.
Laughter followed on this early day in June 2009.

Where Is Puymirol ?

There is a small community in the Southwestern area France known as Puymirol. On May 30, 2009, Alan and I were on an automobile journey from the San Sebastian region of Spain to Puymirol, France. We passed signs for the Bergerac town and the Hotel Cyrano that inspired me to look into the autobiography of the French writer and dramatist, Cyrano de Bergerac.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrano_de_Bergerac

Alan purchased a ‘Flamenco Deep’ CD, so we were feeling the deep sounds of flamenco during the drive into this French town. We stopped to rest at a town called Mont-de-Marsan for a jamon y fromage sandwich and a most delicious “suissesse” (a flat square –shaped pastry with sugar and crème fraiche).
I loved the tune ‘Como un lobo’ by Miguel Bose con Bimba Bose that I heard during our journey. (I love the music video I just found even better. That Bimba Bose is so ‘fashion forward’ with one amazing body to match!)
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=como+un+lobo&docid=994850046141&mid=F84D8D498BA8E813A2E1F84D8D498BA8E813A2E1&FORM=VIVR5

We arrived at the Michel Trama Relaix & Chateau at approximately 5PM. The multiple course dinner by Michel Trama was unforgettable. A dear friend arranged for a bottle of champagne to be presented to us (for my Birthday) before we started with dinner.
Yes, I took photos of each course.
The menu included:

The presentation of ‘The Floating Island’ dessert was magnificently delicious. The chef, Michel Trama, said, “The floating island dessert is served when ‘you’ve made it.”
I thought the island part was made of marshmallow but he said, “No, whipped egg white.”
“Fantastique!”
If you ever experience a 'Michel Trama' dinner you will have the ultimate gourmet meal.

I woke up at 9AM or so to moms telephone call.

I showered and found Cedric Green’s telephone number.
“Hi Cedric, I’d like to go to the fair if you’re still going,” I said excitedly.

I took my Salvation Army clothes over to my mom’s house because she had arranged for a pick-up. I borrowed twenty bucks from mom and before long it was noon and Cedric Green and Frankie Clark were at my place. Frankie Clark is a sweet black gal who works at the Berkeley RTOC (Residence Telephone Order Center). I had never met her until today.

We left for Pleasanton and found a parking space easily. Our feet were beginning to get tired as the day wore on. It was hot and we were thirsty. Cedric Green is too “cool” though. He makes me laugh. I consider him a good chum and I shall miss friends like him now that I am leaving the Downtown Oakland office. I am so eager for the change of working in San Francisco.

I was home by 7:30PM. It was still daylight on this 4th of July summer day. Mom was babysitting Ashley, so I went over there to see them.
“Mike Miller called,” Mom said.
I did not return his call right away. Instead, I chose to hang out with mom and ate a homemade salami sandwich and a Moutain Dew soft drink.

I lounged and watched “The Young & the Restless” and “The Edge of Night”.

By 9:20PM the fireworks could be heard outside. It was ongoing. I headed home for a bath and now I am all relaxed in my black half-shirt pajama wear.

I kept wondering if Chris might have called me today. I began to wonder if Danny had called. I wanted to know if Danny had returned from the Los Angeles area after his venture to Bakersfield (or thereabouts) for the skating events.

I know Mike Miller telephoned. I will have to call him tomorrow and invite him over.

It’s 10:10PM now and I would say it is definitely time for some shut-eye.

Lost In Cloud 9

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Love really "is" enough.

Now that she is already smoldering inside, her little head glowing
with lubricious images, I will climb her back and will wallow on the
satiny geography of her body, tickling the propitious zones with my wings.

I will frolic like a happy puppy in the warm pillow of her womb.
These antics of mine make her laugh and stir up her body, sparking it
into embers. When she laughs her nipples harden and rise as though an
invisible mouth was sucking them, and the muscles of her stomach vibrate
under her smooth skin, which smells of vanilla and suggests the rich
treasure of warmth and moisture of her privacy.

At the moment my turned up nose can smell the aroma of her secret juices,
reminiscent of overripe cheese. The perfume of that sensual suppuration
drives Don Rigoberto mad and on bended knees, --so she has told me-- as if
he was praying, he breaths in the perfume and fills himself with it until he is drunk with joy.

"As long as you smell like this, I'll be your slave," she says he says,
with the loose tongue of those who are drunk with love.

Thursday

A few co-workers noticed my absence during my escape to Humboldt County. I still didn't feel too hot this morning. I made some hot chocolate for my brother, Tony, and I.

At lunchtime I took a walk with Tony and Helen to my monthly parking agent. It was time to make my monthly payment. I have determined that Helen is definitely "head over heels" over Tony.

I learned that Tony accompanied Helen last weekend, helping her move into her new apartment. And now they have a date this upcoming weekend! Who knows where it will all lead? For now, Tony and Helen seem to be a "silent item" as of today.

I drove Helen to her apartment after work. I proceeded on my way home after picking up a few of my personal things at the townhouse. I scared Sherri half to death when I appeared. It's like she's all moved in and didn't expect me to drop by. I had the spontaneous opportunity to meet her mother, Janet Lewis.

This evening I enjoyed a tuna sandwich and soup with "pops". I showered and went to bed. My mind needed sleep.

April 2, 1984, Monday

I heard Chris' alarm clock go off. I saw him getting ready for the U.S. Coast Guard. What a drag. He's good. He just wants to get his ten months out of the way.
"I already have a job lined up with a company called 'Interface'," Chris had said the day before.
"It sounds promising." I thought as I tossed over to my other side while in bed.

Chris left. I showered and then Barbara woke up. Barbara is also in the U.S. Coast Guard but she had the day off. She made me breakfast and we looked at some of her hometown photographs from Pennsylvania. The pictures were excellent. She had some photos taken from the Humboldt County area, too. We also had the television on. The Phil Donahue Show was on and a 'pornography discussion' was taking place.

The Phil Donahue Show was followed by the Sexiest Men in the World segment. Tom Selleck and Mel Gibson were included. Too bad they forgot Michael J Armijo and Christopher Cordellos.
PHOTO: Tom Selleck

PHOTO: Mel Gibson

Barbara left for errands and the bank. I took an excursion on Chris' bicycle throughout the neighborhood.

When Chris returned home I was helping Barbara set up a flower bed. Yes, I felt like I was doing a segment for 'Better Homes & Gardens'. It was fun. Chris was feeling a tad depressed.
"I just learned my mom is in the hospital because of her emphysema complications," Chris revealed.
Chris had to return to work. It was only a brief afternoon visit. He was also upset because he was returning to the BASE where he was not doing much of anything.

Barbara and I took a drive to Patrick Point State Park.
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=417
PHOTO: Patrick Point State Park

Then we went to visit Palmer's Point and the locally popular 'Wedding Rock'. It's a local tradition for over a hundred years to get married on top of Wedding Rock in Patrick's Point State Park. It was at Palmer's Point where Barbara had to climb down the main cliff. I hoped to get some great pictures. It was a fun-filled day spent getting to know Barbara.

PHOTO: Wedding Rock

Barbara and I continued on our way to Arcata where we bought some neat greeting cards at Jacoby's. I couldn't find my bank. We later learned that it had closed down. We returned home to nap as we watched 'The Waltons' and 'The Big Valley'.

Later, Barbara and I went to the U.S. Coast Guard Station-Humboldt Bay Base to visi Chris Cordellos. We hung out there for a while, meeting a few "nerds". There was Phil (the alcoholic), Eddie (from Oregon), and Jim Severn. Barbara and I bid our farewell at around 12:30PM and stopped over at Safeway. We had tea at home with Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies. We discussed the 'boyishness' of Jim Severn and the others. I defended Chris' maturity. Barbara agreed with me.

Barbara cooked burritos. We planned on delivering one to Chris (only we didn't know until the last minute that he was having red wine and a barbecue steak at the local Phil's Bar!

After his work at the U.S. Coast Guard Base he came home to do his laundry. I went down and talked to him for a while.
"I feel kinda bad and jealous cuz I couldn't spend the day with you," Chris said.
"Ah, don't feel bad," I replied reassuringly.
"Yeah, but you came all this way and you're the visitor."
"Well, I did think of you all day and the best part was when you came home," I said.
He smiled.

We went into a hidden storage room behind a trailer, near the tennis courts. We just rapped (talking excessively about nonsense). Chris chose to dwell on the 'shitty fact' that I was leaving on Wednesday. I turned the situation around, stressing how we always have such fun hangin' out.

Delightful Tickling

She has always been like that. Innately fun loving, just like me, or perhaps, even more than me. Justiniana is never wrong concerning matters of pleasure. It is what I like most about her, even more than her voluptuous hips or her silky pubic hair, so delightfully tickling to the palate: her swift fantasy and accurate instinct to recognize, within the confusion of this world, the sources of amusement and pleasure.

Her small mouth of red lips will kiss my foot and will suck each one of my toes as lime and lemon are sucked during the feverish summertime afternoons. We will soon be intertwined, frolicking in the sibilant silk of the blue blanket, absorbed in the sheer bliss from where life springs. The forest will hear us sigh as we swoon and, all of a sudden cry as if fatally wounded. A second later we will be heard laughing and kidding. And still entangled, we will doze off in a peaceful dream.

Twenty-five years ago today:

Saturday, March 31, 1984

It was raining during this Arcata, California morning. I didn't let it depress me. Chris didn't mind it. Barbara didn't mind the rain either. We drove together to the Samoa Cookhouse. I treated them to breakfast. It was delicious home cooking. I had scrambled eggs, french toast and sausage.

We continued on to the Old Town of Eureka. I bought a few 'future journals' for myself. I also found a 'Baby Book' that Sherri might like for little 'Shane' or 'Ashley'. I bout a tie for $6.99. Chris found a fashionable jacket to match for $22 at the Vintage shop in town. It was great fun browsing the boutiques.

We continued on for miles to a small town known as Ferndale. We looked through shop after shop. I bought a few postcards and actual greeting cards from Mom and Barbara Reynolds. I found a cool 'bike pin' and a 'bike charm' that I now use on my silver chain that Helen gifted me.

After the exploring of Ferndale, California we were a bit tired and enjoyed some ice-cream at Bon Boniere in Old Town Eureka. We had to return to 'Chris & Barbara's' home to lounge now. I took some pictures and we listened to tunes.

Barbara was sweet to make a home-cooked meal for the three of us. The main course was chicken and snow peas.

Jim Severn and some other Coast Guard fellow named Dan stopped by. We drank wine and 'wine coolers' and got ready to go to "Mojo's". This is a big place with a live group called 'A Band Of Desperate Men'. Chris and I heckled about the name of the band.

A blond chick, visiting from Los Angeles asked me to dance. She was actually from Coronado.
"You dance like you're from L.A.," she said while we were dancing.
I couldn't help but take that as a complement.

We left the Mojo's joint. It was fun doing a little slam dancin' with Chris and Barbara.

The most eventful part of the evening was our non-stop cracking up while at Denny's. The waitress looked like a "poodle". We tried to walk out without paying for our meal just to see what would happen. It was an embarrassment that we would not quickly forget. We weaseled our way out of it by saying we were 'out of it'. It sounded like a good explanation and I am a smooth talker. Chris tried to foolishly run. I remained calm. During the drive home we talked and talked and talked about the foolish motive. We all regretted it.

The Descriptive Sentence

Posted on 10:24 by Unknown

"Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it."
-Francis Bacon, artist

Now Don Rigoberto had his eyes half-closed and it was as if all his energy had fled from the rest of his body and had taken refuge in his reproductive and nasal organs, his nostrils inhaling Dona Lucrecia's honeysuckle.

And as the warm and dense perfume, reminiscent of musk, incense, soaked cabbage, anise, fish in vinegar, opening violets, sweat of a virgin girl, reaches his brain like a vegetal fragrance of sulfurous lava arousing his desire, his nose, now sensitive, was also able to feel that beloved bush, the viscous brush of that slit of burning lips, the tickle of that moist fleece whose silky threads excited his nostrils, further enhancing the effect of vaporous narcotic that the body of his lover offered him.

The above line is what I call 'The Descriptive Sentence'. Amazing!

The manager on-duty, Deborah Smith, said she could probably arrange for me to get out of work at 3PM today. At lunchtime Helen and my brother, Tony, walked with me to Tony's car in order to retrieve my luggage for my weekend escape. I was able to leave the office at 3PM; whereas, I hopped on a Downtown Oakland BART station, taking me to Daly City. I spoke to some high school chick I remembered named Tammy while on the train.

I arrived at the San Francisco Airport around 5:15PM. I ate a Host Cheeseburger and enjoyed a cocktail in the lounge area. The flight left precisely at 8:15PM and I arrived in Arcata, California before 8:45PM. It seemed like the quickest flight ever!

Chris Cordellos was waiting to greet me at the Arcata/Eureka Airport. Who knew there was an airport in this vicinity? I met Chris' roommate, Barbara and his friend and fellow Coast Guard cohort, Jim Severn. We all went partying, drinking and talking at the Old Town Bar & Grill and The Central Station to see and hear The Lee Brothers performance. We ate eggs and bacon afterward, wrapping up the late night with breakfast conversation.

Chris gave me a 'friends forever' medal. I appreciated his thoughtfulness. Tomorrow we will go to The Samoa Cookhouse, a Historic Restaurant.

Carnal Pleasure

Posted on 12:11 by Unknown

Trust your aversions the same as you do your cravings.
-Ira Levin,
Rosemary's Baby

There are some places you just never forget. This time it is a restaurant in Buenos Aires, Argentina called "Te Matare Ramirez".
Translated it literally means "I'm going to kill you, Ramirez!" It comes from playful arguments the owner would have with a friend who was a sort of Casanova, and this was a threat the friend often heard from the husbands whose wives he was carrying on affairs with.

When Alan and I dined here alone one evening in February 2008 we were quite taken by the red velvet darkness and sensual aura of the establishment. I was so in awe of the menu that the 'sweet talking' with the hostess paid off. She allowed me to take a menu home as a souvenir. I found the menu yesterday after some careful desk reorganization.

I will focus my next few blogs on the words within the menu by Isabel Allende, Franz Von Bayros, Pablo Picasso, Utagawa Kuniyasu, Salome. I will also share the delightful descriptions of their salads, starters, main courses and desserts. It's worthwhile reading.

If you should ever find yourself in Buenos Aires this is the place you must NOT miss.
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/buenosaires/D55886.html

First page of the menu at "Te Matare Ramirez":

The most intense carnal pleasure,
slowly revealed in a messy clandestine bed,
a perfect mixture of caresses,
laughter and mind games, has the taste of a baguette, of prosciutto,
of French cheese and wine of the Rhine.
I cannot dissociate food from eroticism and I see no reason to do it.
Far from it, I do intend to keep on enjoying them for as long as I have enough joy and energy to do so.
-Isabel Allende

Tuesday, March 27, 1984

I accompanied Helen to her new apartment on 7th Avenue in Oakland. She needed to accept her keys. It is an okay pad. The area is safe near the Grand Lake Theater.

I did my usual bike ride after work. I had to drop by Dad's house because I locked myself out of the house (not remembering to tie my house key to my shoelace). Mom and Dad held the spare keys at their house.

I took a drive into San Leandro later that evening. I stopped at Nadine's but she wasn't at home (again).

I did it. I went to the skating rink. Some lesbian named Maureen treated me to a beer. That's a 'first'. I saw Ned (Frank Vasconcellos' friend).
"Where have you been?" Ned asked.
"Around," I replied.
I browsed the foolish skaters as they went round and round. I recognized Jim, Don, Toni and George Jones' cousin (his name escapes me), Kevin (the one who recognized me in Alameda last Sunday), and Eddie. They all said 'hi' or 'greeted' me in some way. I consider a nod as a greeting, too.

George Jones (who I also noticed) avoided me like the plague. He ignored me. I chose to let it pass, realizing it is his loss. I am kind of glad he did not talk to me. It would be an awkward moment.

PHOTO: 1983-George Jones on the hood of my car

While at the skating rink on this night I met someone new. His name is Michael Thoennes. He was accompanied by a black girlfriend. The black girlfriend is the one who approached me.
"He thinks you are gorgeous," the black girlfriend said to me as I sipped my beer.
I smiled at Michael Thoennes, thinking he resembled George Jones in a slight way. This wasn't exactly a good thing. We started to exchange introductory words. He is a Gemini like myself, born on May 23. He is 23 years old.
"I thought for sure you were about nineteen," Thoennes said in disbelief.
I had to prove my age with my drivers license. I was twenty-four and soon-to-be a quarter of a century on May 26, 1984.

Thoennes treated me to another beer. I knocked him on his smoking habit. He agreed that it was bad, leading me to believe he might quit one day. I handed him my card. I persisted negatively about his smoking habit. I sensed that he felt disapproval of me for continuing to knock his inhaling of the poisonous smoke.
"I just hate it," I continued in reference to the smell of the smoke.

Subjects changed. Michael Thoennes suggested we visit a nude beach that he knew further south of Santa Cruz sometime in the near future.
"Sounds interesting." I said with a bit of hidden fear and curiosity over the idea.
"Maybe I can go around April 7th after my Arcata excursion," I thought silently to myself. How naughty am I?

Thoennes handed my business card back to me after I made one additional snide remark to his smoking habit. He couldn't take one more degrading remark about the disgusting smoke. I accepted my card back and shrugged nonchalantly. Before Michael Thoennes left for the evening he approached me again.
"I want that card back," he said with an apologetic shyness.
I gave it back to him hesitantly.

"I'll give you Michael Thoennes' telephone number before the night is over," Don had said earlier. I left before he gave it to me. I figured Thoennes had more than enough chances to give me his telephone number. I did not intend to stand around the rink (alone), waiting for him to come around.

I went to bed on this night wondering what turn of events will occur in my near future.

Paloma Sanchez-Guerra has not called me.

Nadine DeShera hasn't contacted me about this Saturdays' BBQ that we had tentatively planned.

Chris Cordellos is in Arcata, CA, stuck in the US Coast Guard for who knows how long.

And now Michael Thoennes of Milpitas, CA has entered the picture.
"That damn smoking," I thought.
I slept with intentions of riding my bike to work the next day. I was so "beered out" that I doubted I could wake up easily in the morning.

I still yearn to fly out of SFO Airport this Friday night. It will be fun to get away out in this unknown Northern California country setting until next Wednesday. Five days and four nights of escape and pleasures are ahead of me.
