Determined Daddy

Posted on 07:35 by Unknown
“I need to feel needed.
Nobody needs me now.”

-as heard while watching
the 1998 mini-series
"More Tales of the City"

I have a true-story to share. There is a 41 year old gay man I met through a mutual friend recently. We’ll just call him Joe to respect his privacy. I had actually met Joe about three or four years ago at a concert. He is a mere acquaintance. I couldn’t even tell you his surname. During the most recent meeting on August 2, 2009 the question popped up as to what was going on in his life. I was quite surprised to learn of his latest endeavor.
“Well, I’m going to be a father soon,” Joe said.

Joe has wanted to be a daddy for a longtime now. He insists that it’s an inherent ancestral trait that all men want to have children and pass on their lineage/bloodline. He grew up with two or three sisters. He discussed his decision with his sisters (and his parents) about his move forward to have children and they are relatively uncertain, but supportive.

Joe has never had intimate relations with a woman, so he decided to take the scientific method.
“Oh, there are services out there now and you can get what you want,” he said.

Joe says he found a woman who met his requirements (she happens to be a medical student). She donated her egg. He showed us a photograph of a beautiful blond woman as he described her as the ideal female specimen. That was a bit ‘too strangely scientific’ a description—if you ask me. He had apparently screened almost a hundred women before selecting this twenty-four year old woman (he also made a point of saying that this was the perfect age). Who knew there was a market for this sort of thing going on? To hear this detail was a surprise to me. It was a surprise for a single person to scientifically plan his organized family.

The medical student/egg donor was paid approximately $15,000. Through his doctor who was performing and aligning all of this artificial insemination, egg donorship and implanting a woman was also screened and selected who happens to live in Idaho. This surrogate mother was paid approximately $35,000. She (a married woman who has done this before) is about to give birth to “twins” around the end of October 2009.

Joe said, “The egg donor is of Swedish and German descent. I will explain to the children that I simply signed papers, so they don’t have a mother. I will be their family.”
I could NOT believe that he said that. I had to interject.
“You have to tell the children everything you know. And you must show them the photograph of that woman who is their biological mother. When the time is right you cannot make it sound like they were simply a science experiment!”
Joe listened with interest and understood my reasoning.

Joe has already chosen names (R & D). I’ll just call them “Research” and “Development” for humorous reasons at this point. I simply hope all works out for this single gay-father to be.

“It has cost me about $100,000 to do all of this,” Joe stated.
This could be a soap-opera beginning concept for a new generation in the 21st Century. What a wild story, huh? Ironically, I am ninety-nine percent sure that I helped influence his choice as my ‘sperm donation’ story of 1984 was shared to him a few years ago. I seem to recall about his goal to have children someday. His wish is becoming reality.

Twenty-five years ago today:

August 7, 1984
Tuesday

Some dude from New York with Puerto Rican heritage named Anthony Ramirez spoke to me in the office lounge today.
“Are you gay?” Ramirez asked.
“More straight,” I replied. And why I answered this way is beyond me. I guess I did not want him to treat me differently no matter what my sexual preference may or may not be.

Linda just barely made the 7:25AM BART train today. I gave her my business card that I bought at Merrill’s Drugstore which was imprinted ‘I LOVE WHAT JUST ONE LITTLE THOUGHT OF YOU CAN DO FOR MY DAY’.
She smiled at the card.
“My Dad may end up moving to Los Angeles,” Linda said, “he works for a company called Bechtel Engineering.”
We made arrangements to meet at the corner of Van Ness and Market Streets for lunch today.
“I’ll wait until about half past one,” I said without realizing that it would be such a walk from Folsom Street. I arrived at 1:20PM and there was no sign of her anywhere. I ended up eating alone at Zim’s thinking to myself, “That damn wench…stood up again!”

The training day was not so bad today. Bobbie, the frizzy haired lady from Marin; Joe, the gay guy with the ‘My Favorite Martian’ looks and Barbara Reynolds all make it fun.

I was hesitant about going to Barnaby’s after work for a drink to celebrate Karyn Kossoff’s birthday…but I went anyway. I was early and I dislike ‘the waiting game’. I devoured some hors d’oeurves while I waited, sipping my White Russian cocktail. I recognized Sheila come in but pretended I did not notice her.

Soon, Karyn arrived and I greeted her with a birthday kiss. She actually brought me a piece of her birthday cake. What a sweetheart!

The table was complete. By 8PM it was me, Karyn, Barry, Tom, Sheila, Laura, Jim, ‘Ron and Ryan’. I was the minority. They are all blond and I was the only brunette. I really had lots of fun. I danced a good amount. ‘Ron and Ryan’ make for an interesting couple and they are really nice. Later that evening, Ron took my broken bike pendant and gave me his business card.
“You can pick up my accomplishment of fixing your broken bike at the jewelry shop where I work,” Ron said.
“Okay, maybe I can look at some of the men’s’ rings at your store on Friday, too.”
Who knows? Maybe I will end up having a drink at Barnaby’s this Friday night once again. I like the music they play there.

“I like the way you refer to Gemini’s as dynamic people,” Ron said, “I was born on June 9, 1961.” Ron is only twenty-three and kind of immature—at times---but a very nice guy.

Ryan wants Karyn and me to go to see CHAKA KHAN at the Circle Star Theater with them on September 14th. I was so thrilled that Ryan wanted to include me. I really like these people.

“I just want to solely be a ‘Happy Man’. Do you know that song by “The Greg Khin Band” called ‘Happy Man’?” I asked Ron as we had this private conversation.
“Yes, I have heard that tune,” Ron replied.
“Well, I’ve considered mutual male love but I have never got into it and don’t know who…what or where,” I blatantly said aloud with a straight face. In other words, I played naïve.
“Just stay away from Ryan,” Ron said, “just kidding.”
“As long as he stays away from me,” I replied with a kind of an interested smile.
“Really…I am the one that should be worried,” Ron added.

‘Ron and Ryan’ left abruptly but it was strange that they left because they had invited Karyn and me over to their place earlier in the evening. Karyn called them from the BART station.
“Oh come on over,” Ron repeated.
We forfeited the BART train at 11:45PM and when we took a taxicab to Ryan’s pad his doorbell did not work. I thought I liked these people. Why weren’t they at home now? Could they have had an argument? Karyn called them once again and their answering machine came on. We left a few ‘not so nice’ messages and took a taxicab all the way back to the Fruitvale BART station (from San Francisco).

We entered my mustang and drove to my pad. Karyn really is so much fun.
“I had a nice birthday,” Karyn said giggling.
I feel that I can be very open with her. In fact, I told her something tonight that I have told no one. I told her about my donation as donor number “151” to the Bay Area Sperm Bank.
“I am sort of iffy about our relationship because of Linda and Suzy,” I confessed aloud. It’s amazing what a few drinks can do. I guess I was making excuses to tone down our relationship.

“Wait a minute, I’m confused. I’m attracted to you and I...,” Karyn started to say as a sigh followed.
The last thing I wanted was her confusion to do was lean towards the question of my homosexuality again. I believe that is why I chose to speak of Linda and Suzy.

I guess I enjoyed this night because Karyn, Ron and Ryan were all giving me attention. Everyone likes to be ‘a new attraction’ of sorts. Only time will tell.

Karyn looked at more of my pictures and then we ‘turned in’ for the night. I fell asleep quickly.

Celebrations

Posted on 07:35 by Unknown
She knew what it was to wait in a bar for a man who never showed up.
To wait for letters, to cry in public,
and on the other hand to be pestered by a man she no longer wanted.
She liked tributes and attention.

-Alice Munro
as read in her 'VANDALS' story
in her book 'Open Secrets,
Short Stories'

On May 28, 2009 Alan and I were resting at the Hotel Maria Cristina until it was time to get dressed up for an exciting dinner at a hillside view restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain. This was not just a dinner but a ‘dining experience’. We were about to experience the gastronomic menu of renown chef, Pedro Subijana. His restaurant, AKELARE, translated means ‘The Witch Festival’.

Our window view of the sea was fabulous. The meal was as ultimate as ever. I took photos of each course (except for the one that looked so good that I almost finished the course when I remembered I had not taken a photo of it). Yes! What an amazing ‘end of my Birthday Month’ celebration treat.

The RIOJA wine we shared came from the Pamplona area. It was the Arinzano 2001 Rioja. Fantastic! I really did not expect such a magnificent meal. We met Pedro Subijana, the chef, as he came to the table and we explained that we were from the USA.
It’s hard to pinpoint my favorite part of the meal.

I loved the Vegetarian Ravioli.

I loved the Prawns.

I loved the Crab Salad and the Baby Roasted Pig (Alan’s least favorite)—but it went well with the “Cincinnati Dancing Pig” song (read yesterdays’ blog). It really was a delicious roasted piggy!

Each plate was presented in such a masterful, artistic way. I want to visit there again someday.

I even took a photo of the mensroom. It had its own modern charm. Smiles.

Twenty-five years ago today:

August 4, 1984
Saturday

I awoke naturally at around 8:45AM. I telephoned mom and we decided to visit the Alameda Flea Market together. I bought myself some black sunglasses straps to go with my Merrill Drugstore purchased $6.00 sunglasses that I bought last night in The City. We shopped at some shops on Park Street and I found a clock that I bought for Renee Miller and her husband-to-be, Andrew.

It was time to get ready for the wedding. I wore the cool looking slacks that I had bought at Grodins, a ‘Made In Italy’ tie and my white aviator shirt from International Male.

There were not a lot of people at Renee’s wedding, although I found it to be very quaint and nice. I enjoyed myself, dancing with Sue a lot. I couldn’t get over how pretty Sue looked. She really was enchantingly beautiful.

It was funny that I ended up catching the garter belt that Renee tossed out. So that means I am the next ‘big wedding’ (but I’ll believe it when the time comes—I suppose).

The mishap of the evening occurred when some dipshit twenty-year old dude named Keith Collier ran a red light and nicked my convertible. There was no real damage and I received no citation but the dipshit cop wrote an accident report. I just hope this accident report does not make me sound at fault or change my auto insurance premiums in any way. Did he make me sound at fault? The f---ker!

I felt honored to be in the crowd that got to see Renee and Andrew open their wedding gifts. They said they really liked my clock, too.

I stayed at Sue’s moms’ house until about eleven o’clock that night.

Once I did get home I couldn’t fall asleep. So I did something unusual and went out for a bike ride until midnight! The night ride was enough to exhaust me and I crashed on my mattress, falling asleep immediately. It was a nice summer night and I enjoyed riding in the breezy darkness.

The Cocktail Party: London

Posted on 07:35 by Unknown
“I suppose I was naïve to think in that first rush of feeling I had for you that it could all come right
simply because I wanted it so much.”

-Ian McEwan
‘Enduring Love’

I was fortunate on my post-50th Birthday as dear friends (Lord John Eatwell and Lady Susan Digby-Eatwell) sponsored and arranged for a cocktail party on my behalf in their Chelsea, London flat on June 3, 2009. I took portraits photos of the guests and ‘dear friends’ that were in attendance.

The guest list:
Alan Freiman, Marina Del Rey, CA
Lord John Eatwell & Lady Suzi Digby-Eatwell, Cambridge, England
Chris Davis, New Castle, England
Nigel & Pompi Parry, Salisbury, England
Tim and Janet Lance-Hughes, Hay-On-Wye, England
Bret Lopez and Mimi deBlasio, Napa Valley, CA
John & Marion Leghorn, Birmingham, England
Ed Digby & Jess, London, England
Ali Digby, Manchester, England
Marie-Paule Michel, Geneva, Switzerland
Herb Braha, Playa Del Rey, CA
Dov & Zoe Hoenig, London, England
Marcia Firesten, Los Angeles, CA

Suzi Digby arranged for her pastry chef to make me a Birthday cake in the form of a suitcase with places like ‘New York’, ‘Paris’, ‘London’, 'L.A.' and ‘Napa Valley’ used as frosting decor. And I thought this was the only cake I was going to have:
http://007gentleman.blogspot.com/2009/06/50th-birthday-dinner-in-barcelona-spain.html

I was overwhelmed. It was too lovely. I kept sipping Champagne, thinking my Birthday was over days ago. Fun things just kept happening non-stop. It was the sweetest party. We were all able to mingle easily amongst each other. Chris Davis, a fellow photographer friend, took these great photos during the venue:

Friday

Well, it was six months ago today that I met Chris Cordellos and we are ‘sort of’ still good buddies. That’s great.

I woke up this morning and have been very good about doing 50 pushups and 100 half-sit ups each morning. Now I’m off to eat pancakes at mom’s house. Then I plan to go bike the rest of the day (until 3PM when I go to The Alameda Courthouse to see good ole Charlie Brown again.

I ended up spending more time with mom than I expected. I tagged along with her to see Grandma (in my car with the convertible top down). The weather has been so fine during this summer breeze month.

I started to go biking but I ended up with a flat tire, so I took it into the Alameda Bike Shop on Park Street. Mom and Dad dropped me off at the Alameda Courthouse at 3PM. I met with Charlie Brown at about 3:30PM and he set it up so that I could go to Traffic School. I still had to pay a $10.00 Court fee and then $15.00 for the class. I chose to take the Traffic School class tomorrow (July 14th) just so I can get it all over with!

Mom and Dad rented two movies (CUJO and TOOTSIE), so I watched it with them until it was suddenly midnight. I headed home and fell fast asleep in hopes that no rabid ‘Cujo’ dogs would enter my dreams.

A 50th Birthday Dinner in Barcelona, Spain

Posted on 07:35 by Unknown
"I'm capable of clearing my head for two hours at a stretch.
It's not easily done you know!"

-as heard while watching
the NYC Broadway Show
"The Philanthropist",
starring Matthew Broderick

On the morning of my 50th birthday (May 26, 2009) I was thrilled to see my photo published in the La Vanguardia newspaper in Barcelona, Spain. That was not my only surprise of the day.

Alan and I accompanied Bret and Mimi to the MIRO museum. Bret and Mimi had traveled from Napa Valley to be in Barcelona for my birthday. What a treat! It was beautiful at the MIRO museum up on the hill.

We took a taxi back to ‘Rambla de Catalunya’ where we enjoyed an outdoor lunch at Diviniti Restaurant, Rossello 231, 08008, Barcelona. Brett and Mimi departed for the Gaudi structure viewings while Alan and I did some shopping damage at places like ‘Zara’ and ‘Camper’.

“It’s time for our siesta,” Alan said in his exhaustive tone. “It’s time to rest for the big dinner tonight.”
“Good, I need a siesta,” I replied, feeling rather thrashed and ready for a nap.
We walked into the lobby of the hotel and Alan says, “Wait a minute, look in here at the lobby.”
This lobby is quite beautiful. It’s where a scene from the movie ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ took place.
I walk in and I get the “Paloma Surprise”.

On a plush couch in the distance I see Paloma seated with her husband, Alexandre, surrounded by several wrapped gifts. I was so surprised! I mean, I had a feeling I would see Paloma for dinner at some point but this moment was quite excitedly unexpected. Fantastic!

At 7pm we enjoyed a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne in our suite. Paloma and Alexandre arrived first as our television had a Spanish bullfight going on. Soon Mimi and Brett arrived with a longtime friend, Coleman Andrews, a notable food and wine critic. He wrote a book called ‘Catalan Cuisine’
http://www.amazon.com/Catalan-Cuisine-Colman-Andrews/dp/1558323295

Obviously, I never had my siesta for the day. We all ventured over to Comerc, 24, at 24 Carrer Comerc, 08003, Barcelona, for dinner. The courses were unbelievable: Olives stuffed with anchovies,
Golden Macadamia nuts,
Porc Corn with guacahina,
Grissini with pesto, Filo, PARMA, lime and basil,
Sardines with blood orange and wasabi,
Avocado and lobster makis,

Consomme with parmesan, truffle and egg,

Kinder egg,

Duck rice with foie,

Farm Chicken with king prawns,

Sirloin with roses and berries,
Bread, oil, Chocolate and salt,
Mueslie, Yogurt passion,
Mandarin passion mint,
Nougat with tuille cigar, chocolate and coffee,
Black sesam Oreo with vanilla and
Sable with pineapple and meringue.

And the Birthday Cake was made by Oriol Balaguer. He is known as the best pastry chef in the world (2003). I just found him on FACEBOOK and ‘Became a Fan’:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oriol-Balaguer/57958909607

The ‘pina colada’ style cake he made for my Birthday (pictured above) was so unbelievably DELICIOUS. The presentation alone was enough to “oooh and ahhh” about.

The dinner was fabulous and it was one birthday dinner I shall never forget. It was more than a dinner. It was an 'experience'. When in Barcelona be sure to visit Comerc, 24. It's the BEST. Yummy!

Friday

Oh yeah, I remember last night when I stopped by to see Sherri she was getting ready to go out with her girlfriend, Gina. Suddenly her mother (Janet) stopped by with some humongous strawberries for us!

Tonight mom took the day off because it was her 27th Wedding Anniversary! Mom and Dad married on June 15, 1957. Ironically, she and dad spent the day cleaning the townhouse at 3330 Cook Lane. They enjoy that feeling of accomplishment when they have done a job well done. I gave them their champagne goblets as an anniversary gift. They don’t really drink champagne but they can still use them to drink wine or KOOL-AID.

I received a telephone call from Sherri.
“Could you bring the Baby Pageant raffle tickets over to the house?” Sherri asked.
I guess she was able to sell a few extra. When I arrived at the house her friend, Gina, was there again. She was watching that movie that John is so obsessed about (Eddie & The Cruisers).
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=eddie%20and%20the%20cruisers&docid=976036102884&mid=106EC7359A17963DEF37106EC7359A17963DEF37&FORM=VIVR11

Gina is cute. I believe she is of Hawaiian descent. She really has a nicely shaped body. She is petite and her ass turns me on. Gina left midway through the film to pick up a friend (so she said).

I played with Ashley for a while until I decided to come home. I liked hanging out with mom and dad in celebration of their Anniversary. I turned in to bed by eleven o’clock that evening.

The Future Is One's Past

Posted on 08:00 by Unknown
It is scary to discover that one's future is also one's past.
The anticipation of a world is inevitably the myth of an eternal return.

-Jules Verne
"Paris in the Twentieth Century"
(The Lost Novel)

Michael, 'The Gemini'
At 11:59pm Pacific Time I was born fifty years ago today (May 26th) in Oakland, California. I celebrate my 'New 30' in Barcelona, Spain. Viva Espana!

Twenty-five years ago today:

May 26, 1984
Saturday

What a way to start my Birthday morning!
Chris’ lower back was ‘killing him’. He couldn’t take it and I didn’t know what to do. The pain eventually subsided and we managed to have a great morning. We showered and then headed for Carmel.

We ate at a nice outdoor restaurant after I bought a cool, new pair of shoes. The shopping could not be helped among all of the neat little shops.

It looked like the weather was going to be nice but it remained gloomy so we decided to head for the Santa Cruz-Los Gatos area.

We found our way to Seacliff Beach in Aptos, CA. We enjoyed the ‘walk & talk’ as we checked out this entirely new beach, feeling the warm sun along the way. We had fun joking around about the nice bods, the grody bods and the great lookin’ asses and vice versa. It made me laugh hearing Chris talk so spontaneously and directly. There was no jealousy involved either. It was just plain summer fun and goofing off.

PHOTO: by LaWanda Wilson-Cornmesser

We were soon in Los Gatos, CA where we had ice-cream at Swensons. The traffic was hectic for a good while but I had my share of cool, alternative tunes to help pass the time.

Before long we were back in Alameda. Chris fled to Concord to change clothes and shower. Chris returned about two hours later and we ventured over to San Francisco’s Top of the Mark to see the wonderful City Lights view on my 25th Birthday.

I was feeling tired after the long day. We left the Top of the Mark and walked (regretfully) to Polk Street and walked into a 24 hour restaurant called GRUBSTEAK. It was a drastic change from the Top of the Mark clientele. We left as Chris started to feel tired, too.

I had to drive home with Chris dozin’ off. He was not in the mood for ‘anything’. So I remained silent listening to mellow tunes. When we arrived home Chris fell asleep in his car and I went inside to sleep in the house. He didn’t want to come in, so I left. I guess he left after his nap (or maybe after a scary dream of me or some other face knocking on his window).

Just The Girl: Ashley M Armijo

Posted on 10:46 by Unknown
"Will you smile if I admit I was wrong...about miracles."
-as heard in the film
'Revolutionary Road'

When I look back at my life as openly as possible,
I see how I have attracted to me the people, the events,
and the patterns that have been perfectly appropriate
to the kind of influences and images that my particular belief
systems have been expressing.
-Tony Parsons
in his book "As It Is"

In honor of Ashley Armijo's 25th Birthday I randomly selected this song for her called "Just the Girl" (just for FUN). I wonder if she has ever heard it. It's the first time I heard it (today).

At 6:45AM mom and I simultaneously answered the phone. It was my brother, John, calling to give us the latest news.
"I just want you to know that I'm taking Sherri to the hospital," John said.

It looked like today would be the birth of a new 'Armijo'.

And it was the birth of a little seven pound thirteen ounce little girl named 'Ashley Marie Armijo'. She was born at 10:24AM on May 8, 1984 at Kaiser Hospital in Downtown Oakland, California.

"I am an uncle now," I thought quietly to myself.

Mom was overjoyed beyond her wildest dreams. It was her wish to have a granddaughter.

Tony, Helen and I ate at Lake Merritt for lunch. None of us knew the status of Ashley's birth at this time. I learned of the baby's birth at 2:30PM when I called my mom at that time.

I telephoned Chris Cordellos in Arcata, CA to tell him I was an uncle now. He seemed happy for me but he was in a raunchy sort of mood. He was exhausted after just getting out of work at the US Coast Guard Base.
"I didn't have a good day. There was talk of court martial and 'The Brig' over my past AWOL and other negatory acts in the past. It was from when I was working in investigations," Chris revealed.

Chris was down and out. I guess I didn't help matters.
"Oh well, I'll let you go then," I said. I wanted to celebrate being an uncle and didn't need to hear his nonsense.

Helen and I went to see Sherri and little 'Ashley' right after work. We worked Downtown and the Kaiser Hospital was too easy. We had to visit immediately. Ashley is all pink, tiny and cute. My niece!

PHOTO: 1984-Having fun with Ashley,
a few months later.

I went to John's pad and he gave me a couple of slices of pizza and a few swigs of Coors beer 'in celebration' of his being a "papa".
"Here," John said as he handed me the traditional cigar. That was funny.

I telephoned Chris Cordellos from home a bit later. We talked for a good fifteen minutes. He was feeling better now.
"Yeah, I'm so glad to hear from you again, today," Chris said.
"I'm just so happy about Ashley," I said with excitement.
"Well, I am going to come down there on May twenty-third 'no matter what'," Chris announced excitedly.
We'll see if he shows up. I'll believe it when I see it.

I started watching the movie, "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof", then took a quick shower and hit the sack. Just as I started to fall asleep I received a call from Janet Lewis (Sherri's mother). I talked to her for a while, congratulating her on being a grandmother.

I couldn't sleep, so I watched the ending of "The Last Days of Pompeii".

My Dad left for work and I decided to call Chris Cordellos once again. To my surprise the phone was answered by Jim Severn. This made me suspicious at first. When I spoke to Chris everything seemed okay and 'innocent enough'.
"I hope I'm not being a gullible fool," I thought, trying to silence my mind.
I should know better than to dwell on things for too long.

During the telephone call to Chris I gave more details about Ashley's birth.
"I am 'for sure' coming down there on May twenty-third," Chris repeated as I 'once again' felt that he could not talk freely and openly with Jim in his living room.
I wondered about it all as Chris added fire to the flames.
"Yeah, there are other parties going on here as well," Chris said.
He loves to surprise me with these announcements. What can I say? It is only two weeks from now that he will be down here and more questions will be answered. I am confident that we will have a blast, celebrating my 25th Birthday.

Tomorrow (after my Sperm Bank appointment) I am going to MACY's to shop for gifts for Ashley, Mom (Mother's Day) and Tony (his Birthday is May 12th).

I plan to call Bay Fair Shopping Mall's Photo Studio to arrange a black & white 8 x 10 head shot portrait of myself as a gift to my grandmother. Furthermore, if time avails and my mood permits I shall give my car a super hand washing.

Music Is My Life's Breath

Posted on 05:18 by Unknown

"You are so transparent
...to me at least."

-Angelique Collins (Lara Parker)
to Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid)
DARK SHADOWS, episode 1133

May 26th. THAT is my birth date. Yesterday, I learned of all of these musicians that are born on the same date:

Peggy Lee
(FEVER)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYxoAJ3Boyc
Al Jolson
(MAMMY)

(FAMILY TRADITION)

Miles Davis
(JAZZ MELODY)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-fsn7JD6Kw

Have I missed my calling? Perhaps there is still time for me to sing or learn my instrument. Look at the wonderful spontaneity of Susan Boyle. I might have to hire a voice coach. What songs would I want to record? I think I do have a good voice. I hear myself singing in the shower. I've never smoked, so my vocal chords are 'in the clear'. Or maybe I shall continue to recall that line from Montgomery Clift in the 1949 film, The Heiress (as it applies to me):
"A great appreciation of music...that's a talent in itself."

Maybe music "is" in my life's breath. Peggy Lee will live through eternity with that line. Peggy Lee is buried at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Westwood, CA. On her marker in a garden setting is inscribed, "Music is my life's breath."

Monday

Barbara Reynolds took a 'sick' day from work. Beth Neroda came by to have lunch with me. She and I went to the Maya Azteca. I treated ($15.00). I am too kind. (And to think today the office had 'Baseball Day' with complimentary hot dogs and root beer.)

When I telephoned Chris Cordellos this morning Barb answered the telephone after the 10th ring. I hung up when I heard her voice.

When I gave my mom a call I learned that Sherri had to go to the doctor because she felt like it was almost time. She was spotting blood and had a slight cramp! Who knows? I may be an "uncle" soon. Why does that line from I LOVE LUCY come to mind when she was about to have Baby Ricky ("The Time Has Come")?

I was surprised when Dave Vigil stopped by my desk today.
"I am thinking of partaking in a triathlon this summer and I want you to help me with some bicycling techniques," Dave said as strummed his fingers on my cubicle partition.

I spoke to a customer named Graham Wallace about payment arrangements on his telephone bill. He remembered me and suggested bike riding in the hills.
"Why don't you give me a call one weekend?" Gray asked innocently.
I just may take him up on his offer. It could be fun. I could also make a new friend. Gray?

When my workday ended I was bicycling until 7PM.
"You just missed a call from Mike," Dad said as I entered the house.
I'm sure it was Mike Thoennes. I bet he received the postcard I sent of the photo I took of him. This means Barb, James the Dog, and Chris received their photo cards, too.
