I felt a little like an uncomfortable first date: something is going to happen, but no one knows exactly what it might be.

Get on the BIKE!
Twenty-five years ago today:

Tuesday
Well, I wore my brown leather pants (that resembled the ones Bob Umland wore the first time I saw him at Wilkes-Bashford) to work today. I got several compliments.
On the BART train this morning I had a surprise confrontation from Amanda Lopez.
"Hi, I've seen you at 24 Hour Nautilus."
"Oh yeah," I said, pretending I remembered her, "Do you work in the City, too?"
Apparently, we work out together at the same place. It was neat. I remember Paloma telling me how she often runs into people in other places that recognize her from her Fitness Center.
Amanda replied, "I'm going to school at the Fashion Institute in San Francisco."
"That's great. I'll probably see you at the gym."
"Yes, I mostly work out with the aerobics class every night."
Dale brought me a lunch today. That was really nice of him.
I made a definitive appointment with Margaret Lai to read her TAROT cards today. It was fun and very realistic to her. She could relate to all that I predicted.
Steff did NOT call me very many times today. Lucky me? When she did call it was nonsense.
"Michael, do you still want to see A.J., the horse that I named after you?"
Unbelievable.
I replied, "Sure I do."
Dale was giddy with information. "Michael, I forgot to tell you. Steff told me that private party cruise is simply a Blue and White SF Bay Cruise. It's nothing spectacular. And her cousin may not be able to go."
This led me to question whether her cousin really is the lead singer of CHICAGO. (?)
Sue Fischer is pretty cute and funny. She always smiles and asks me questions when she has to close out her 'Data Marketing' work and give our department a helping hand.
I recognized an old supervisor from the Oakland Residence Account Service Center at our SF Office today. It was Kathy Dombrowski. She was being given a tour of our division. I wonder what the scoop is on that? Dale was thrilled that I could inform him 'who she was'.
Dale shared information with me, too.
"Michael, I got the inside story from Tim about Karyn Kossoff and her fun in Florida."
"Oh yeah? What happened?"
"She introduced some nineteen year old stud on the beach 'into' her, supposedly."
"You're kidding me."
"No, and she and her 'square' goody-goody girlfriend met two Mexican drug dealers with a lot of COKE who made offers to solicit them for a night!"
"Beats me...whatever."
"I just remembered that I hadn't told you about it when Sue mentioned that she taught a seventeen year old how to drive a stick-shift."
Dale couldn't help but stress the innuendo of her teaching him to 'drive the stick'. Too funny. It made me laugh. Dale went on to exaggerate his 'mild heart attack' from last Friday night while teaching me to drive a stick from Dixon. The expressions on his face were priceless.
Dolores (from my section) and I walked to the BART station together. We got on the same train, too. Then, I got a surprise 'acting on impulse' greeting from a tall gal who happens to be a freelance journalist. She gave me her business card. Her name is Sherri English. The card had her telephone number and on the back part of it was written 'You have a beautiful smile.' That was so nice!
When I arrived home I telephoned Chris Cordellos to wish him a belated Happy Birthday. I also invited him out to dinner for this Saturday.
"How is everything else with you?"
Chris replied. "You know, I haven't been going to the gym lately. I've been sick. And I have some ugly blisters on my legs."
"Ugh," I said, "Beats me, I hope it gets better soon. All I know is that vegetables and fruits prevent excessive zits on your back."
I recalled a 'zitty back' I saw at the gym last Saturday. Steff is the one that told me that 'veggies' would clear that up in three months along with cutting down on the fatty foods.
Paloma returned my call and she is coming over tomorrow with a quiche. We plan to have a quaint dinner together, watching DYNASTY. I told Paloma about the two BART encounters today with Amanda Lopez from my gym and Sherri English, the freelance journalist.
I am going to the gym tonight since Paloma won't be visiting until tomorrow night. I did see Amanda Lopez. She spoke a few 'get acquainted' words before her aerobics class began. She passed the test (she came up to talk to me).
Once I returned home Marty beamed with a loud news announcement from upstairs, "Hey Mike! Steff called and Bob Umland called but I'm on the phone at the moment."
"Okay, thanks," I yelled.
I did not return Steff's call. I mean, why lead her on more so?
I telephoned Bob Umland at ten o'clock. After the eighth or ninth ring he answered the phone and shouted, "I'm sleeping. I'm going back to sleep. I called you earlier."
What a jerk. He didn't even mention his disappearing act at the Fashion Show a couple of weeks ago. He is not very sensitive to other people's feelings. I mean, he calls once in a long while but he is so uncaring. He is only free to his own demands. I don't even want to deal with that one any longer. Wilkes or NO Wilkes.
