When you have someone to talk over your problems with, they're not nearly so bad. If I was having a sticky time with ______ I'd be planning to tell ______ even while I was having it, thinking: Wait till ______hears about this!

Did you ever catch the 2008 film "Cadillac Records"? It was a nice, historic look back. I liked when Etta James sang "Church Bells". In fact, the film made for some really great musical entertainment.

Sunday
Oh yeah! I called Chris Cordellos last night because we were supposed to be going out on this night but he was not at home.
Mrs. Cordellos said, "He may not be back until Sunday."
"Oh, okay," I said and 'that was that'.
I also called Bruce Diamond (aka Seth) to see if he wanted to have a drink at the I-Beam in The City. I was feeling guilty for not even calling him last Friday.
"Well, I'm going to a dinner party tonight."
"Oh, okay," I said and 'that was that'.
And so I am glad it happened this way as I was able to spend Saturday night with mom watching "The Elephant Man".
This morning I went to mom's and had pancakes and oatmeal for breakfast. I tried lying down to relax a bit when Sherri called.
"Hi Mike, would you go buy a six-pack of Coors?"
"What? Why?"
"Last night some friends and I drank a six-pack and I don't feel like having a lecture from John when he gets home."
"Oh, okay," I laughed.
I decidedly went to visit the gym because it was "yucky" and raining outside. I worked out. I am starting to see a lot of regular faces around the gym. After the work out the sun began to peek through the clouds and I went to Alpha Beta for the six-pack of Coors beer. I delivered the merchandise to Sherri. Ashley and Sherri's pal, Anna, were still there. I stayed there for a while and Sherri let me have a video starring Kathleen Turner called "Crimes Of Passion".
I went to mom's and she was on the telephone. She was dying to break the news.
"Mom! Just tell me. What's the news?"
"Tony announced this morning that he and Helen are getting married!"
"What? Really?"
"Yes, and by the end of this month!"
"Wow."
And to think I met Helen initially on May 3, 1982. We became such good friends. And now, to think of the times that we had said, "We will still be close when we're old and gray."
And now, to think she will be my sister-in-law! It amazes me to think that ma and pa will have acquired three daughters within two years (Sherri, Ashley and Helen).
I thought, "Uh oh, am I next?"
No way.
Dad and I watched "Crimes of Passion together while mom went to the store. Dad got all riled up in an excited sort of way over the explicit scenes. The tied-up cop and the roughness of the the girl was rather fascinating.
I stayed at mom and dad's and had dinner with them (homemade potato salad, BBQ chicken and 7-up to wash it all down). We lounged around after the meal and I felt over grown and obese from too much potato salad. We watched "Kids Don't Tell", a flick that mom taped last week about child abuse. I didn't watch it all (not exactly an exciting subject). By 10PM I was back at my pad.
Marty had messages for me, informing me that Dale and Steff had called. I just went to bed but Steff ended up calling me before my final shut eye. We chatted away and now I think we may go together to see "Depeche Mode" on April 3rd (a Wednesday night).
Helen also called to give me the news about her marriage to Tony.
"I'm so happy for you," I said.
I was truly a bit overwhelmed by the news but I guess it had crossed my mind that it could happen. Oh well, I'm glad that she will be my new sister-in-law. Wait until I tell Dale the news. I wonder what concoction he will come up with in response to it.
Steff called again to give me a brief good night.
Steff said, "You are not too ugly to be a movie star. I just saw all of the ugly stars on the Night of a hundred stars and I can honestly say that."
I just laughed it off and said, "Good night."
Oh yes, I called mom.
"I just wanted you to know that Helen called me to give me the news. Have sweet dreams."
"Okay, I'll talk to you tomorrow."
I probably won't see mom for a while given her work schedule. I tried to call Paloma today a couple of times but there was no answer. (?)
"I had no reason to fear this guy but he reminded me of the snake in the woods."
