"The Road", 2009 film
On September 13, 2009 I was sent this thought-provoking dilemma about decision making by Gloria Weiner Freiman Cohen. She wrote:
'A Decision...Good for your blog!'
Please take the time to read this one as it will broaden your mind:
You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car? Think before you continue reading.
...
This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.
TRUTHFULLY, DID YOU THINK OF THIS:
The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble
coming up with his answer. He simply answered: 'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.'
Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.
Thank You, Gloria! We do gain more if we give up our stubborn thought limitations!

My supervisor, Stephanie, is a real sweetheart. She is Filipino "looker" and I love her. She's so nice to me.
During lunch hour I ate alone at the Devonshire Restaurant (a real honest-to-goodness hole in the wall).
When I telephoned mom at break time she said, "John and Sherri put their Christmas tree up."
Hearing things like this put me in the holiday spirit.
After work I exercised a bit and then chose to lounge until I got so hungry that I decided to make a trip to SAFEWAY. There's a guy named Mike who works at SAFEWAY that has a neat 'preppy' New Wave haircut. He is 'questionable'.
I wanted to go to La Val's Pizza to see if John was there but I am too low on funds to afford a pizza. Bills...bills...bills. I received my car payment bill today.
It is 8:30PM and I have not heard from Bob Umland all day. I do not intend to call him. I am going to play a 'hard to get' role (as Gilbert, the modeling agent, implies that I tend to do). In fact, I will not call any one tonight. And tomorrow, I may visit Baxter's for a few drinks.
"Oh no I won't! I have to be at MACY's on Saturday morning," I thought to myself.
I think I will just lay back and relax tonight and tomorrow (Friday) night. There is this television show called 'Family Ties'. It is so funny. I forgot how much I liked it.

My thoughts wander. I wonder if I will run into 'Liz of Lafayette' again? Only time will tell. I had a dream last night that I moved to Walnut Creek, California.. I probably dreamed the notion because Dad said, "I am raising your rent to $475 effective January 1st." I just may scout around the Walnut Creek area to see what I could rent for $400 or so (or less).
I have always liked the sound owls make and that evening the owls were the only thing I could hear apart from the fire.
