"The Divided Path"
The pursuit of living a longer life is still madly 'in the works'. There seems to be more and more proof that 'A Long Life' may stem from a proper imbalance of dietary nutrients.
A new study in fruit flies suggests that the life-extending properties of caloric restriction may be due not only to fewer calories in the diet, but also to just the right mix of protein building blocks, called amino acids. The study, was published online December 2, 2009 in Nature.
It looks like scientific explanations are showing that a restricted calorie diet has much more health benefits than we thought.

Saturday
I drove in to The City (San Francisco), arriving a bit early. I sat out on Union Square when an "old gent" came by and took a picture of me while I was sitting on the bench. Strange. All I could think to say after he said, "Thanks" was: "Yeah...uh, that'll make for a real natural shot, I guess."
By then it was 9:30AM, so I proceeded for my MACY's Training Day. A black guy instructed us for the first half of the day. He was dressed nice, kind of thin and even though he was black he reminded me of Jim Koran in LA a bit. The Chinese instructor we had for the second half of the day reminded me of AT&T employee/friend, Doug Siu.
I ate a cinnamon croissant at lunch time and sat outside on Union Square again. While I walked back to MACY's I saw a good lookin' girl and I couldn't hold back a comment to her.
"You know, you're a real LOOKER," I said.
She smiled at me and said, "What?"
I repeated what I'd said and she turned bashful red. I kept on walking. I know first-hand the feeling of a compliment from a complete stranger.
While at MACY's training I learned my ID Code Number 1042960. And the number 1 signifies CASH, number 3 is CASH with a Yellow Slip, number 6 is MACY's Charge, number 8 is American Express, number 14 & 44 means CALL for an OKAY (transaction check). I also learned how to 'SEND' for a customer, how to handle returns, how to open and close the register (Ugh!). My brain took in quite a bit but it's really nothing compared to the complications of my current day job. It's true what they say. If one can be a Service Representative/Account Executive at the 'phone company', then that person can do ANY job.
Afterwards I drove to mom's house and babysat Ashley while 'ma & pa' went to SAFEWAY for groceries. Ashley Marie is seven months old today & she is now teething her uppers. I gobbled hot dogs while I was there, then left after Sherri came by to pick-up Ashley.
Mom wants to go to Concord tomorrow to see Tony's new business venture. I agreed to go. Tony opened an ice-cream shop with Dennis Reno called "Savoir Faire". Sherri and Ashley may accompany us.
Right now my primary mission is a good cycling, then I'm excited about going to see the Hitchcock Classic "Rear Window" with Karyn Kossoff at the UC Theater in Berkeley (probably) tomorrow night.
I am home again after a good bike ride. I am pleased to have received a Christmas Card from Mike Miller and a postcard from Barbara Reynolds in Hawaii. I am going to bed now. Yawn.
