"You need to have faith and trust that behind every act is LOVE. Then, later you look back or you sit quietly and it becomes clear that these things which seemed harsh at the time saved you. You were just too much a child to understand."

Karyn Kossoff and I went to MACY's together to pick up my very first paycheck. It was a mere $45 dollars for the eight hours of work from my 'Saturday' training day.
It was a nice release to complain over the amount with Karyn. We laughed. She then ran into an ex co-worker she knew. I forget his name.
After work I went home to nap. When I woke up I popped over for a nightly bike ride to the local SAFEWAY to look for Mr. New Wave. Then I had a burger at the Ice-Cream Dock as I did a bit of local 'people watching'.
When I returned to my pad I telephoned Erika Hurst to give 'Thanks' for the surprise Christmas Card. She talked and talked and talked. You know the type. I mentioned getting together for lunch on Monday.
I decided to call on Bob Umland, too. He had his mom visiting over at his pad. He seems to be really close to his mother (like me). I liked that Bob mentioned how we must do something next week. He knew I had the week off as vacation time. It remains to be seen as to what we may do.
I watched him read his letters, saw him frown at one, smile at another, dismiss the next with no expression, and but for the grace of GOD I thought, my letter would be lying there, written from New York, and he would read it in the same indifferent fashion, puzzled at first perhaps by the signature and then tossing it with a yawn to the pile of others in the basket, reaching for his cup of tea.
