In March 2009 I came across this article in New Scientist Magazine about memory and mind-reading (it's very "James Bond" to remain in the loop with these things--you know!). Ever wonder what someone else is thinking?
It seems scans of the part of the brain responsible for memory have for the first time been used to detect a person's location in a virtual environment. Using functional MRI, researchers decoded the approximate location of several people as they navigated through virtual rooms.
This finding suggests that more detailed mind-reading, such detecting as memories of a summer holiday, might eventually be possible, says Eleanor Maguire, a neuroscientist at University College London.
Her team trained its scanner on the hippocampus, a region of the brain critical to the formation and storage of memories. It is known that in animals, specialized place cells in the hippocampus fire regularly as they move from place to place.

Carl makes me laugh. He is such a 'good buddy'. My neck was really sore today. Carl massaged it a bit. He's a pal (but I wonder if anyone in the office noticed?).
Karyn Kossoff and I ate at CARL's JR. It was a fun outing. She was amused and liked my orange juice milkshake concoction.
After work I dreaded having to go to MACY's to the 'other job'. I went anyway. It was kind of a drag. I don't really want to work next week either. I may not.
I made an appointment with Danny Garcia for Tuesday of next week for a haircut in his shop in Danville, CA.
After work at MACY's I came home to read a bit more of "The Painted Bird". Then I was so tired I went straight to bed. Yawn.
"I'm always secretly admiring you."
