"I cannot leap from misery to hope so fast!"

THE HEART OF ME (U.K., 2002)
Screened: May 10, 2010
Director: Thaddeus O'Sullivan
Madeleine is the reserved wife of charming Ricky, whose affections are secretly stolen by her free-spirited sister, Dinah. O'Sullivan's elegant adaptation of the novel "The Echoing Grove" transports us to pre-World War II England, where social mores work at every turn to stifle the emotions stirred by this forbidden love triangle and the ever-evolving sibling dynamic. Featuring a dream cast: Helena Bonham Carter, Olivia Williams and Paul Bettany.
My Comments: 5 STARS
"I LOVE YOU!" Madeleine exclaimed.
"Madeleine, I think if that were true you would have said it long ago."
"Throughout all eternity, I forgive you, you forgive me."
--William Blake
"Leave us to our own devices."
"I wish you wouldn't beat about the bush!"
There was a scene between Madeleine and Ricky by a classic car in a posh park that was such gorgeous cinematography. The Direction was excellent. This is a story of two sisters who love the same man. The taboo reaches great lengths as the sister known as Madeleine is married to Ricky when an affair takes place with the other sister (Dinah). I love these period piece classic films. The British do them with such panache.

This morning I telephoned the San Francisco Examiner to arrange an advertisement for a roommate, but it would have cost me $120 ($10 per day). I canceled it after calling UC Berkeley Campus. I was able to post a two-week ad at the UC Berkeley Campus under their Rental-To-Share service for free.
For lunch I went to the Banana Republic and bought Sherri a safari net bag and a leopard-like scarf. It was well worth the $39 gift. Sherri had pointed out that she liked it last month when we were shopping together.
I wanted to get home right away. I was thinking a lot of UC Berkeley students would me calling me about my ad. No one did.
I told David Vigil (at work) about my needing a roommate.
"I might consider that," said David.
I received a surprise letter from Paul Adamson of England. He is one of those two guys that stayed with me a while back. I will have to write back to him.
At 6:30PM or so Chris Cordellos telephoned!
"I went skiing in Colorado!"
I was wondering who he knew there and asked, "Did you go with Grant?"
"Are you kidding? Would you believe Grant is getting married!
"No way!"
"Beats me. You know, my sister, Paula?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, she is living in Concord now and she's pregnant!"
"...not of Nigel's child!"
"Yep!"
"He's so dark! I wonder what the baby will look like?"
"I know!"
That was about the most interesting part of our talk.

me of Nigel, the father of Paula's child
I have felt 'out of it' and OW (overweight) lately. The lemonade, sunflower seeds, crackers, Monterrey jack cheese, and ice-milk I had tonight did not help matters.
I hope Dave Vigil reconsiders becoming my roommate. Maybe if he sees my pad he will feel differently. If not, maybe I will call Roommate Finders. It's another service I read about. I need/want the money.
I am watching a movie called "The Execution". It's good. Loretta Swit looks prettier that I have ever seen her.
I may write to Paul Adamson in England and Maria in Mexico tonight (or tomorrow). At least the good intentions are in the back of my mind to do so.
When Paloma and I went out last Friday night I was envious of her bodybuilding. The male bodybuilders that were about looked so in-shape.
Paloma said, "Short men should not body build."
I want to shop around for my own Nautilus Club. I'm going to 'work out' hard.
I telephoned the Nautilus near Supreme Court on the West End of Alameda. I was quoted $250 per year for a membership. A fellow there named Mike spoke to me.
"Why don't you come in and see the club," Mike suggested.
"Okay, I will. Is Wednesday night okay?"
"Sure, come on in."
He had discovered since coming here not just that he had a definite practical streak but that there was pleasure in having something to accomplish, he liked having a few projects on-the-go.
