"Come on, let's start dishing."
"Start what?" asked Michael.
"Dishing--you know, gossip. I don't mean malicious gossip."
"You just mean juicy gossip," grinned Michael.
"That's right. The juicier, the better."

"The Divided Path"
I remember being in complete rapture with the new music phenomenon known as MADONNA in the mid-1980s. We shared a 'peer sort of thing' as she is close to my age. Her first album that released on July 27, 1983 had a major impact on me. The songs "Lucky Star", "Holiday" were fantastic. It was the obscure tunes like "Borderline", "Think of Me" and "Physical Attraction" that caught my ear for the unique lyrics. I immediately felt a connection.
She gained even more publicity the following year (1984) with her "Like a Virgin" album. I remember seeing her sing in one of her very first films called "Vision Quest". It was the short-lived marriage stint with actor, Sean Penn, that occurred in 1985 (on her 27th Birthday) that started to give her major 'gossip status'. Then came "Material Girl" and she just keeps going on and on and on.
Clearly, Madonna is a 'marketing maven'. She knows how to revive her status with a flip of a coin. I recall reading several years ago that some University devoted a course to 'Madonna Marketing'. She knows how to pull off her "promo". I wish I could teach that course. I believe a big part of her mystique is the ability to provide 'juicy gossip'. She is ALWAYS one-step ahead. Who knows what will be next with her? She is sure to continue to raise eyebrows (after all, she's not yet sixty!).
Usually, I lose interest after the masses start to take notice of a new phenomenon that I have already reckoned with; however, I was recaptured by Madonna in 1990 with the publicity of her "Dick Tracy" movie and her affair with actor, Warren Beatty. It was from this film that I was in awe mostly by her new tune "VOGUE". When I'd see fashion shows with this music going I was spellbound by the fun and energy of it.
Once again, I lost interest in Madonna but always remembered reading that she was always taken by the Nancy Sinatra tune "These Boots Are Made For Walkin". It has always been a favorite of mine, too. Watch it and you shall detect some of Madonna's influence:

Then came Madonna's Golden Globe Best-Actress EVITA performance (which I saw and loved) in 1996. And now it is her never ending concert tours (of which I have never attended one). If you can spare backstage passes, Madonna, I would be there 'in a flash' (in any country). Please invite me, I dare you. Uh-oh, one should never dare Madonna as I have a feeling she would be taken up by the challenge.

A new generation of fans are sprouting everywhere because of her history and her continuous ability to come up with that next 'favorite' song or theme. It was a few months ago when I was introduced to a new FaceBook friend named Adrian Lichev of Sofia, Bulgaria. Adrian had taken notice of my photography and over the last several months I learned that he considers himself the #1 Eastern European fan of Madonna. He has reawakened me to her early music and her 'new' exciting music of today.

Madonna's manager
Guy Oseary, who is the Godfather of Madonna's son, Rocco, and a major music entertainment executive posted this photo of Adrian while in-line for MADONNA's concert. The photo was taken in Sofia, Bulgaria in August 2009. Guy posted it as a TWITTER 'tweet' via his online notification network.

Guy Oseary, born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1972, began his career in entertainment at the age of 17. He became CEO of Maverick Records (the record label Madonna founded with others in 1992). He is Madonna's manager to this day. I guess that is ALL one has to be (Madonna's manager). There's no need to mention that as part of Maverick Films he managed to produce the sensation hit film "Twilight" as well. Lucky guy!
Madonna! IF you should ever need a new manager in 'any capacity' the one to hire is Adrian Lichev of Sofia, Bulgaria. He is devoted to you. Words could not express an inkling of his devotion.
Adrian recently shared (with me) that he looked right into Madonna's eyes at the concert in Sofia, Bulgaria. He yelled out, "Louise" (her middle name) and she gave him a shocked 'How did you know that' sort of look. Adrian was instantly in-love.
Of course, I don't feel too sorry for Adrian because he seems to be having fun now that Madonna has left town. I think he will NEVER be 'over' Madonna. I know he will certainly never miss another opportunity for a Madonna concert.

Twenty-five years ago today:
October 14, 1984
Sunday
I woke up early once again (8am or so) and flipped on the radio to "Lucky Star", one of Madonna's new hit songs.
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=lucky+star%2C+madonna&docid=1344687178520&mid=F63314B4512F95AC2372F63314B4512F95AC2372&FORM=VIVR12#
I telephoned mom but she asked me to call back in one hour. She's busy with her Sunday routine (I assume--or could mom & dad have been "doing it"?). I exercised, showered and called back as instructed.
"I just wanted to tell you that I was riding over to Lake Chabot today."
"Oh okay, have fun."
I went cycling and it was a superior, nice, Autumn day. I like the hills up and around Lake Chabot. I am learning to ride them well. I feel myself becoming more proficient with shifting my gears in that terrain.
As I was riding my bike along Doolittle Drive en route back to Alameda I saw some guy with brown hair and blue eyes hitchhiking. I actually stopped my bike and said, "If I was driving I'd give you a ride."
That's the gusto and exhilaration of non-stop cycling for you.
He replied with a smile and asked, "How far to Alameda?"
"Oh, just keep going straight and you'll get there in no time."
As I started to pedal again I shouted one last remark to him, "Oh, I like your jacket. I want it!" And then I speedily rode off.
The hitchhiker was wearing a faded blue jacket by GUESS (brand name). He had me guessing, that's for sure.
I drank some A&W Root Beer at Mom's, then went to my place to change clothes. I hopped into my car for a quick spin down Doolittle Drive--but my friend with the faded jacket was nowhere in sight.
And so, I returned to mom and dad's house. I tried to sleep but it was not happening. I decided to try sleeping at my own house when I was awoken by a Rainbow Girl of Alameda who rang my bell in hopes of collecting newspapers to recycle from me.
Realizing a nap was not going to happen I returned to mom's house and actually fell asleep until 4:10PM (when Sherri arrived with Ashley). Mom gave Ash a bath while Dad started to get on my case about eating over there (as I was munching on some Cocoa Pebbles cereal). Doesn't he realize that cyclists need to eat A LOT! I just left the scene. Dad was being a creep. I now plan to avoid the '356 Magnolia' residence for a long, long time.
When I returned to my place I was looking for my TAROT Cards just as Karyn Kossoff telephoned. I had felt a need to forecast my future. Karyn and I reminsiced a bit about last Friday night.
"I went to the Sausalito Flea Market today."
"Really? I'm envious."
"Well, I'm impressed with you and your bicylcing excursion to Lake Chabot!"
Just then, I got a call-waiting signal. It was Bruce.
"I got the job for some New Wave fashion show in San Jose at The Cabaret Club," Bruce shouted.
"Really? I'd like to check that out. Let me call you back."
I would like to go to the so-called New Wave Fashion Show 'just for the hell of it'. When I returned Bruce's call I got a call-waiting interruption. It was a surprise call from Jim Koran in Los Angeles! I was elated to say the least. He sure did talk a lot. I loved every minute of it. I left Bruce on a constant hold and he was probably pissed (but 'what the heck').
"I decided to call you because I was attempting to write to you and I couldn't get all of the words out. So...I just decided to call you," Jim said.
"I'm really glad you did."
"I have to tell you that the last letter you sent me--at the end--was leading towards the intimacy levels. I wasn't sure how to react."
I just listened and kept silent, hoping he would get all of the words out.
"I don't hope for anything in a relationship. I just wait to see what and how it goes."
The silence was my cue for reaction.
I explained, "I want to be friends...and when I refer to whatever in my letter I also mean 'wait n' see'. Being friends is always a first priority."
It's true that we don't know a lot about each other and his call answered a lot of open and closed questions.
Jim said, "I wanted to be sure you knew I wasn't being put off by your letter or 'putting you off' for that matter. It was just a matter of my finding the time to say what I wanted to say."
What Jim's call all boiled down to was that he tried to explain that he is not a sleaze and does not like people who cannot relate sensibly. And he pointed out that of the few relationships he has had he is not 'the one' who has ended it.
"I am attracted to you," Jim said.
He made it clear that he is aware that I am attracted to him too. Our friendship is meaningful to him but knows it's too early for mushiness, intimate thoughts, etcetera, when we've spent very little time together (not to mention that we have a reasonable geographic distance between one another). It all made sense to me. I could relate to our conversation.
Jim ended our conversation by saying, "My mom is coming this weekend of Halloween from Arizona, but please call me regardless if you should plan a trip down here."
"I will surely call you," I answered back.
He flew me for a loop when I thought I heard him say, "I couldn't hang with you staying with me for three days."
It sounded like something to that effect but I think I heard him wrong. Or did I?
Paloma telephoned about half an hour later.
"I'm tired of calling you and you're not there," she flared in her French-English accent.
"Oh?"
"I called you at ten-thirty to see about Sausalito."
"I'm sorry I missed your call. I woke up early--before any one--and went cycling. I wanted to Thank You for your photos."
I had hoped I soothed her anguish, calmed her down as she sounded so bitter. I could tell she was feeling a bit down.
"I'm going for an ice-cream," Paloma said.
I hoped I had made her feel a little better. I wonder if I should have suggested I go with her for that ice-cream?
Helen called.
"I'm on my way with my curlers on."
Oh yeah, she's moving in with me for a very 'short time'.
