A Little Sex
Posted on 09:31 by Unknown
There is a movie that was released in the Springtime of 1982 that has always been an all time favorite of mine. It's called "A Little Sex" and it's a romantic comedy that was directed by Gwyneth Paltrow's father (Bruce Paltrow). The main character is named 'Michael' and he works for an ad agency. He is married but has trouble being faithful to his gorgeous wife. He keeps listening to Duke (his dick) instead of Albert (his brain).

It stars Tim Matheson and Kate Capshaw. I guess one could say I took notice of Kate long before Steven Spielberg ever did. Kate is a magnificent talent.
Spielberg discovered here two years later (1984) while filming Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom.
Several years ago I was waiting on a coffee drink at Starbucks at 15th & Montana in Santa Monica and she (Kate Capshaw) walked in to use the restroom. She gave me a quick, friendly smile and I was literally 'star-struck'. Of course, no one else knew who she was. I don't think anyone realizes it's Kate unless she's in the arms of Steven Spielberg. And then you have random people thinking, "Oh, there's Mrs. Spielberg." Well, Kate has her own identity, too. I was so nervous. I wanted to say something to her when she walked out of the bathroom but all I could do was return a smile.
A few months ago I was at the Brentwood, California 'City Bakery' about to have my morning coffee and a light breakfast. I saw Kate seated alone, contemplating her agenda for the day with a notebook.
"Oh my God! It's my chance to say something this time," I thought.
I was adding cream to my coffee when she came up to get cream or sugar herself. She was standing right next to me!
"Excuse me, I just have to tell you I loved you in 'A Little Sex'," I blurted.
She looked at me stunned, yet admiringly.
"Why, Thank you SO MUCH!" Kate replied with that sparkle in her eye.
"Yeah, it's one of my favorite movies and I tell everyone to see it," I added.
I couldn't help myself. When it rains it pours.
"And the part with you and the trench coat...just great! It's the best," I said.
"Yeah, I think that was one of my first films," Kate said as she settled back to her comfort zone seat at the City Bakery.
I know I made her day. I don't know if she realizes how she made my day though. I hope I run into her again someday. I 'broke the ice'. If you look at the Internet Movie Data Base you'll see in her filmography that "A Little Sex" was her first feature film.

I strongly recommend you see this film. It's a great story. And there's a bonus tune at the very end by The Chordettes called "Mr. Sandman".

The work week is passing quickly. Before I know it I will have my early April days' off. I want to visit Arcata, California.
I received my $5000 credit limit preferred VISA with CitiCorp Bank yesterday. I also received a nasty rejection note from Bank of America about my Auto Insurance and the $500 collision deductible. I almost want to forfeit my loan and put it on my VISA. I will just put it on abeyance for now. Let's see what happens.
Nadine called me at work today.
"I'm going to a family dinner because my uncle died," she explained.
I guess our date is on-hold. Such is life. She said she was going to St. John's Church and she actually told me what she was planning to wear.
I took it upon myself to visit St. John's Church in San Leandro, CA. I saw Nadine with her mother. Nadine was pretty cute but not absolutely knockout gorgeous. There is a difference. I suppose I would go out with her. Yes.
I telephoned Debbie Honcik and we made a definite bicycle outing date for Saturday, March 17th at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. That is the same day that I rescheduled my Sperm Bank donor visit (for 11am).
Paige LaBris called to inform me that she had decided to take the Greyhound Bus from Sacramento on Friday. I have to pick her up at 8AM on Saturday at the Bus Depot in Downtown Oakland. What gives? Ugh! I hate to that area.
My co-worker and friend, David Vigil, gave me a photograph. It was a picture of him and his gal pal, Stevie. The two that I double-dated along with Suzy. Strange.
